  1. Loved the video. A nice simpe idea that shows so much. Well done. Matt
  2. Hi Looks okay but after several months without my fave laptop, I've been forced to use a few different windows laptops and all I'd say is make sure you've got a decent external sound card. If you have then the laptop sounds fine. Matt
  3. No. I have heard of cyclists being done for speeding and not just told off. Might be just urban myth but I'm sure there were a few cases in Glasgow area a few years ago.
  4. I also read that motorways were designed for 70mph, as in the camber on bends is set for cars doing 70 or lower. Don't know if this is true as I've seen many cars going a lot faster than that around relatively tight bends on a motorway. Were we stay, there aren't so many speed cameras but lots and lots of signs that tell you your speed. They are great, except after a few dull days, when their solar panels don't recharge their batteries. It has slowed me down a little in the car. However, my brother in law and myself were really pleased when one of them flashed up 30mph when we went pas
  5. Dare I say it but I have a behringer and I love it. It's the DDM4000 and so far it's done everything I've asked of it. I didn't ask it to confuse me but it did that as well. However, when I was on holiday I spent a a couple of long nights playing with it and learned how to use it properly. Must have paid off, as last Saturday night was my first gig since the holiday and I got a booking for another gig while I was working. I've been doing this for about 2 years now and I've had regular work (minimum once a month) but that's the first time I've had been asked, by a stranger, to do a
  6. Hi I don't know this router. However, if there is a way to send the router a command from your PC, perhaps via a command line on your PC, then you might be able to schedule your PC to send the command at a particular time. It depends on whether your router would accept command line instructions and will probably involve a bit of googling. Sorry if it's a bit of a techie solution but in the absence of specific features in the router or it's controlling software, it's all I can think of (apart from getting a new router ). Matt
  7. Glad to hear it worked for you. About 18 months ago, when I connected the wrong supply up to the Maxtor, I asked some guys in my work for advice (and yes I work in IT). Did something very similar to your fix and the drive actually started to smoke and hiss. I'm glad your's worked but I truly goosed mine. I've lost loads of music. Especially when I first started using hard drives. That's why I now say to anyone who will listen, to make sure it is a proper portable drive and not just an external drive, as these don't have the protection and are usually just boxes. Also, I use a Mac, and
  8. Hi When you say it is self powered do you mean it has it's own power supply. If not and you mean it takes it off the USB supply then check the cable isn't too long. I mixed my Lacie up with a cable that I thought was the same (but turned out to be a few inches bigger - no tittering please) and had the same symptoms. I've not had a lot of luck with hard drives, including Maxtor's, WD's and Seagate's. The Lacie portable however has been brilliant and very reliable. I've also put the wrong power supply into a Maxtor and goosed it. Really easy to do. Matt
  9. Hi I had a look at their site and although it says it is compatible with Windows, it doesn't say anywhere that it is compatible with Vista. Maybe have a look at the compatibility mode in Vista and set it to run Atomix as Windows XP, which would fit in better with the age of the Atomix software. Matt
  10. Quick update to say the aggregated device worked a treat. Not a problem all night.
  11. Hi, I use one along with the built in sound card on my mac book. Sound quality is okay but I find the connections a bit fiddly and for some reason (although I've used it regularly for 18 months) it just hasn't won me over in a big way. I think it's the built in sound enhancement features that I just don't need that put me off. It's not good enough for me to rant about but not bad enough for me to justify replacing it yet. I did have an Edirol UA-1EX for a few gigs until I lost it (think it got nicked but can't prove it) and I much preferred this as it did the job without any fuss.
  12. To send them regular updates with what you are doing probably wont work. However, you could consider doing basic Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and do things like send them an email on their anniversary or birthday. I'm a bit of a cynic about these things but when I recently got a few emails when it was my birthday I noticed them, even though I knew it was an automatic message.
  13. I started off quite sceptical about this whole process but after watching the programme I think there are a few good performers there. However, the one thing that kept coming across when they asked the reps from other countries was, the UK should put big acts/names on. That will convice the rest of Europe that we are serious. Sir ALW is a start and I'm glad they've put in the other guy from the record company but at the end of the day the 6 possible acts are still going to be new acts, not well known acts. I'm not saying that established acts would win but it would give them a head sta
  14. It's all fair points. I think you have to be careful what you're moving to. If you go with a package like the old Bulldog system where everything they used was their own then it can be awkward moving back. I'm not sure what will happen this time for me when I move (and I'm sure I will eventually). However, my experience has been very good up till now whenever I move providers. The interuption to the service has never been much more than a few hours. I used to be a great advocate of only using BT for everything as most of the time ISP's will blame BT. After doing a bit of work for an
  15. Hi I've recently moved to Talk Talk after having a Virgin ADSL account. This meant I had to have a BT Line, although Virgin were supposed to look after everything. I found I ended up calling BT way, way more than I called Virgin. The Speed on Virgin was pathetic (remember I was ADSL not cable), especially as they were throttling it during peak times, which seemed to be most of the time. One of my mates has just moved to Sky, which still needs a BT line, and he has found the very same problem i.e. ISP throttling the speed. I sat with him and we measured the speed at 300kb, when it
