Could have easily been some sort of Mains or Radio interference that could have caused your problems, or faulty earthing in the venue or anything else outside of your equipment. Gremlins ! Cheers, David

Just Bought A Cortex Hdc 3000 Usb Controller

I use Exact Audio Copy in Secure Mode, which seems to be pretty good at doing it properly (as long as you use a half-decent compatile CD/dvd drive). In secure mode it will tell you of any extract issues - such as suspicious positions in the track (where it can't actually read the disc). It's also linked to AccurateRip so gives you an idea if it matches other people who've also done a rip of the same disc to see if the data is the same. Remember Audio CD's have no data correction, so scratches, dust, etc. will cause Bit errors (and therefore pops/loss of audio, etc), so SecureMode & Ac -
IDE 500Gb HDD's are way more expensive than their SATA counterparts... :/ Price for 500Gb IDE (PATA) bare drives are about 50-60 quid In comparison, a 500Gb SATA drive is only about 30 odd quid :/ Add delivery to the above prices obviously.... Prices based on Scan (cos thats the nearest place to me, 10 mins in the car to Middlebrook!) :) Cheers, David

Is there much in the DDS drive unit apart from a USB hub, HDD caddie and DVD drive? I'm sure they could have put that all in a 1U slim unit (and with a fairly short depth too, with an off-the shelf 1u switchmode PSU) ? Would love to see some photos when you've got it all plugged in too :) Cheers, David

I also picked mine up from a Singer who found he didn't really need it, although I paid 50 notes less - as there wasn't anyone else bidding on the auction! As per yours, was in pretty much new condition, even had the manual for it too.. :) Let us know what you think about it after using it at a gig! Cheers, David -
Oh noes :( Will this mess up your No claims in any way this time? At least the peretrators have been caught - could have been worse where they ran off and there was nobody in the back seat... Clearly they didn't hold much regard for the sister in the back seat either! What a totally crap start to the year  Cheers, David

I went to a friend's house for NYE, which was pretty good, despite the ipod-on-a-bose sound system (they really don't make things flow properly).. Yes there were good tunes but maybe it was me but I got a bit frustrated cos I kept thinking that Y would go really well after X was played... Still it was someone's house, and tbh, it was more of quite a few families getting together, chatting, the kids playing on the PS3/Wii in another room, and qutie a few upstairs,. playing games, etc up there. There was food, plenty of drrrrink, and err well, I didnt get home until 3.30am, and I wasn't blo

The HD2500 also will work with a keyboard for searching stuff... vokf: The ADJ VMS4? The mic input is supposed to be quite naff (so I read), and the audio quality was supposed to be questionable (distorting a bit). There would be only one all-in-one unit I'd go for (laptop midi controller & mixer), and that would be the Denon HC6000... :) It's the only one that has EQ on the mic input(s)... ! Today I met a friend who gave me his old 120 gig HDD, so I'm going to be installing that in the HD2500 soon-ish - that will give me enough space for about 14000 tracks in all (I'm on 9

HD2500 was discontinued some time ago iirc - there haven't been any firmware updates for the unit since version 1400 - which I think was beginning of 2009 I've got an HD2500 - and I've got a 120gig HDD to put in it at some point (since only has a measly 40 gig to start off with). Its not a bad unit - you can get s/h for less than 400 notes (I paid 370 for mine) - Although I now use it mostly as a MIDI controller (bit of a waste really) for Traktor.. Its made my DJing feel a lot more like err DJing, as I'm physically hitting a play button now - and its a lot more controlled/timed be

New Years Ever 2010 - What Should I Charge?
gadget replied to markyb's topic in Marketing & Business Matters
Did you have a contract with any cancellation clauses in it? I hope at least you kept the booking fee part of the total amount... Cheers, David - house party tomorrow at a friend of a friends :) -
Congrats to you both!  :good: Cheers, David, ps. Haha @ Rob :)

I had something similar - with half a pint of coke in a pint glass - knocked it, it fell over, smashed against the flight case and poured itself all over the back of the star cloth, and ended up covering a lot of cables underneath, and some went into my plastic box too (which has random crap in it, spare bulbs, spare CDs, cables etc. What a nightmare! :) Cheers, David ps. and the idiot who knocked it over? It was me *sigh* luckily at the end of the night. Went into the venue's carpet quite a bit though - I was back there earlier this month as well but this time the coke stayed
-
Nope, cos who would operate the decks, etc? Some would surely twig if you were all-of-a-sudden missing from the decks and autofade/mix would just sound rubbish ! Cheers, David ps. Happy Belated Christmas &Boxing day everyone. :)

Same here with Time by the BEP's - Had it requested a few times, but no Disc (had an issue with paypal subscription and an expiring credit card!). As said above, sometimes can be a bit behind with hits side of things though... and the explicit versions on the Hits CD potentially could be avoided... :/ Christmas Cheers, David, on the vodka :p

To be fair the Peavey Pro Sub P Mk II is more bulky than actual weight - i can lift it myself - but I'm careful with it :) I'm sure it may well be lighter than the original Mk I - although I've not got time to look at the facts on the peavey website :) Cheers, David

Peavey Pro-sub P Mkii Messenger Series Active

I can't get it under my ultimax, however I have it set to quite a low setting (out of 4 possible heights I have it set to the 2nd lowest (so not the lowest), or 3rd highest :). Mostly because of the mixer flightcase height! So it ends up sitting next to the deckstand when I need it. Have thought about getting a single pole for it, but not sure if that would look more lop-sided rather than two speakers-on-tripods.. :/ Cheers, David -

I have the Peavey Pro Sub P mkII - I picked mine up s/h off a singer for 150 notes. I use it at bigger gigs (100+) normally, and have the x-over set at about 80-100hz (see below) I use it with a behringer CX2310 and a pair of passive peavey pro 15 mk II passive tops (and power amp). I use the crossover because the Sub doesn't have a high-pass out on it - only a full-signal pass-thru. This is probably my only annoyance! Its a bit on the heavy/bulky side, but it comes with me quite often cos it helps load the car a bit better (fits much better jigsaw-wise!). You can see photo -
I used to use Mastermix, but changed to CD Pool since they brought out the Mobile DJ Pack (30 quid a month). There are the odd occasions where a track is released / in the carts which arent on the radio disc, but does magically appear on the "hits" disc abotu 2 weeks later - which is slightly annoying.. Which ever promo service you do go with, you'll end up having to buy at least a couple of downloads most likely anyway... Cheers David
-
Yeah I start it in about 20s or so, and then I just faded it out at about 4m something... But wanted somethign a bit more ideal - plus I'm a bit of a lazy ar$e and cant be bothered to chop it up... But the radio stations have a radio edit, which most will be more familiar with.... Its not that good imho as far as tracks go tbh... Original version (Medley/Warnes) ftw anyway ! Cheers, David

Are there any more "radio friendly" mixes of The Time (Dirty Bit) by the Black Eyed Peas? The only one I've got is 5 minutes long - it seems rather drawn out and I've had kids look at me odd because it seems so dragged out as far as tracks go. So is there a radio mix of it, of about the 3 minute or so mark? If so where the hell can I download it from - I can see it potentially being requested at one of the Xmas parties this weekends (and It will be the longest 5 minutes ever, or feels like it). Cheers, David

Dammit I just came back from there!

I've a Denon HD2500 - So I know what the depth issue is like! I've got a Gator 10u top 4u ABS case, which has quite a deep section above the 4u front bit - so no issues depth-wise there :) Ideally I want an X900 at the top, HD2500 in the middle and an HC4500 at the front on the 10u top section and in the 4u front I want D4500 CD drawers. plus a dcx2496/deq2496... and my shure pgx receiver can then be velcro'd to the inside. I wish I could do away with the Maya44 USB card, but I use the REC out and a pair of analogue inputs for Freestyler DMX / to record the set (yes I record quite often,
