  1. Traktor 3 will only use one sound card for both monitoring and master outputs (and rec output if you want it). Its a bit of a gripe with some of the older Traktor 2 Users who upgraded to find they couldn't use multiple sound cards with it! (The software writers mentioned somethign about differnet sound cards and different timings, etc). So you will need a half decent sound card with proper outputs for it to work. I'd tend to agree with the salesperson - Its not always possible to use the "surround" channels as you'd expect on the card to route sound through (in my previous experience

    Need Help

I'm only going on what I've read so far on the AI Subwoofers. They have an inbuilt crossover which should have a Hi-Out speakon output. As far as I know all AI speakers comes with speakon leads, so its Amp->Subwoofer In then subwoofer hi-out (should be labelled) to the top INT110 (which probably has two speakon and two jack inputs like the INT112 I have does - all are wired in parallel anyway). The Amp (if its the Warrior DA1000 as in the picture), it should have XLR and 1/4 balanced Jack inputs. If you only have phono outputs on your mixer, then you'd need a phono->1/4 jack cable,
  3. My ideal stand would be one I could easily walk up to and play with "live" equipment, and get a "feel" for it. I think its really important to do this, especially if you're going to be lugging the equipment around and using it all the time.. Mixers, CD players, trying out your own CD or two, and seeing how they sound too. For things like lights, to see them in action, and play with the controller(s) too. David
  4. I used decks/sapphires to buy some KAM KWM11 microphones, was very impressed with their service. I had made an error by giving the wrong card details (d'oh), so rang them up in the morning and they called me back within about 15 minutes to take down the correct details. Definitely use them again - I recommended them to a friend who was also really happy (He bought a Pioneer EFX1000). Have also used electromarket before now (when we got all the stuff for the school back in October last year). Chemical records are supposed to be pretty reliable too! Just my 2p's worth :)
  5. Welcome fellow newbie from t'opposite side of Manchester (aka Bolton!) David
  6. Looks like there's something else to add to the list of wants!
  7. I still have quite a few NOW albums on vinyl only (I think my first one was NOW 4 or 5). The CD Versions, (when they started to do them) up until a point (can't remember which) didn't include all the tracks that were on the vinyl either! I did think about buying some of the older NOW albums I'm missing (= quite a few), but when I saw some of the prices, it might take a bit longer than I was hoping... David
  8. Nah the other well-known electronics chain (which when I was about 6 only used to have about 5 shops nationwide, and a fairly decent mail-order service too)! I've not ventured into St Georges Rd - I ought to have a peek in there, when I get a bit of time. Not sure what kinda stuff I'd be expecting, but would be worth having a nose! I really wanna look and play with different LED PAR Cans and see what I can do with them (seen 4/5/7-channel DMX varients, some 5mm, some 10mm). But thats offtopic in this thread ;) David
  9. Currently I have two separate T-bars - one is a bit rubbish (max 25kg, it came with some other bits - it also seems to wobble above a certain height - I put a spinmaster and the double derby and thats enough imho for it), and the other one i bought at a well known local store for 30 notes, which seems pretty sturdy... David
  10. I went for the Creative Soundblaster Connect (it has 2 x phono in/out), and sounds a lot better than the rubbish laptop headphone output. Also has optical i/o on it too - but its a bit of a waste of time unless you have optical in on your mixer! David
  11. Are you sure you're from the same Bolton? :) It feels pretty cold here at the moment! Nice to see another local on here too! Do you know any decent local PAT testers btw? I want to get everything tested properly (including my laptop + other bits and bobs I use). I thought about doing it myself (quite happy to do electrical work - have built and repaired disco light controllers before now - mostly replacing triacs and rotary switches). David
  12. Thanks! I've read through much of the KB - a wealth of really useful information there! Cheers David
  13. Hi, I've been a member of the forums for a while now, and been reading many-a-posts for ages, so thought I'd do a post to say Hello and introduce myself. I'm almost 33, and a Senior Web Developer by Day, and do the odd mobile-disco now and again (I started doing it October last year). Back when I was 15/16, a Friend of mine had a mobile disco and I went to a few 'gigs' with him at the time, back when it was light-screens and pin-spots and vinyl, with a trusty cassette tape as backup! At university I did a few 80s radio daytime shows on the Student FM station (1995-6), which
  14. Hi All, first time posting A similar issue happened to me when i hit the smoke machine whilst doing some school discos at Christmas - it caused the power amp to give out a massive buzz/mains hum on the right speaker and then cut out with its Protect and Clip lights permanently on. It also smelled as if it was burning. The smoke machine was even plugged into its own extension and in its own socket (separate from other lights + amp, etc). Actually I ought to find out what happened to that amp (its owned by the school), as it was sent away at the end of December under warranty (less tha
