  3. I have got hold of a 5.1 live soundblaster sound card which I intend to use for pc djing. At the mo I use atomix and I can see I can select either 2 soundcards to each deck. I have heard on here that a few people use 5.1 cards and use say the rear left speaker for one deck, then front right speaker for deck 2. How do I get atomix to use this or what program do I use to sort this? I installed the pci version of of the soundcard so I just have the normal 3.5mm headphone jacks to connect to. Im hopinh to connect one of these channels to channel 1 on my mixer and another channel fro
  4. Hi guys. Been doing the cheesy disco thing for a while now and now have a gig nxt weekend for 300 people and the host has asked for NO cheese just pure RnB and Dance!!! My fav gig! Got a fair idea what to play/mix but thought id put the question to the floor and see what comes up. Been asked to play the gig as im playing a club....so what u think?
  5. Was just gonna say I found it. Its soca girls on mastermix 214 but u beat me 2 it. Cheers guys!
  6. Ive tried a search but cant seem to find an answer. Sorry to bring up about the dreaded dj casper but I went to a wedding a while back and he played a version of cha cha slide. It was the normal cha cha slide at the beginning then sort of mixed in and out of a club/dance tune. Cant seem to find this version anywhere. Does anyone know what version it is? Tried the obvious club mix but that was more mellow than the one I heard.
  7. I try and get this in all my dance sets. Class tune. Also good with the vocal remix vs camisrra show me something special.
  8. I use wallets (about 250 per case). Each cd is just added and numbered. Then entered artist alphabetically into excel on my laptop into each type of genre (party, rap, rock , rocknroll etc). Makes it easier to find the artist/track I need. Just click on the sheet I need (genre) then find the artist. Every time I get a new cd I just add it to the case and then I dont have to rearrange the whole case.
  9. Its "a hard knock life" uk old geezer style
  10. Just a quick question based on this subject....please dont take this the wrong way under 16`s BUT If these new guys are under 16, isnt it illegal to work in an over 18`s pub/club etc? The reason I ask is I dont want to get into bother if I take an under 18 to a gig with me as a roadie etc.
  11. I`ve always used Xtreme for everything including my old band but then I thought it`ll be at the bottom of the list "X" so I suck a "B" In front to get me to the top!!! Simple really :)
  12. Thinking of getting a wireless mic in case I get "caught short"!
  13. Thanks Brock - pm me your details and i`ll let u know.
  14. When ur in the glos or wilts area - give me a buzz - i`ll pm u. Cheers
  15. MANY MANY MANY THANKS!!!!! BTW - Im in Cirencester, Glos, but cover Swindon and surround glos/wilts.
  16. Thanku thanku thanku!!! You dont know what it means to me to find out other people have the same problems and stress as me!!! Im not the minority!!! I apologise if this is not in any sort of order but I got so many things in my head that I need to sort that i`ll just blabber on! I work full time as an alarm engineer and work 1 night a week as callout. The missus complains I dont spend enough time with her and shes always bugging me with "you bought all that equipment and still havent made enough to pay it off." So she doesnt help with my decison! After reading the help and advice,
  17. BTW - every contact with the woman with the wedding was through email. When I found out she`d gone elsewhere , I just wished her well and hoped all went ok. Though I did have a bitter taste in my mouth :)
  18. Thanks guys for such an instant response. Your posts have made me feel better and Chris - you must have read my mind as that is exactly how I feel. I must admit that I dont feel as "excited" as I first did when I started but this is probably due to the fact that at the last couple of gigs I have done, I have tried different things (last gig was karaoke - laptop broke down - aunties buggin me - you get the picture). I might stop these "extras" and start concentrating on the disco rather than other "gimmicks". My family and friends are always asking for parties etc but never want to put thei
  19. I have been gigging for about 2 years. However, due to the amount of gigs I get, I am thinking of giving it up (see my equipment in the buy section). Last year, I had a total of about 5 gigs (if that) and 2 of these were for family, the year b4 I had about 8 gigs and about 3 of these were for family. My roadie is starting to get unreliable (not that I use him much!) and the only people I have left to help me is my dad (?!) or my brother (even worse). The only gigs that I seem to get are for family. I had a gig from my website which went down well. I gave a quote the other day to someone l
  20. SOrry to hear it m8. 75p!!!!!!! Unbelievable!!! Sorry to hear the troubles... If its any help or advice, if the gig is not more than an hour away I tend to drive there a couple of days before the gig so I know I wont get lost. Cheers
  21. Ive been having a "cool off" period myself. Im an engineer that works full time and works call out which is about 1 night a week. Also, im up for promotion next year so ive been putting more hours on the pc to impress the boss!!! Also, the guy who usually helps me has started giving me excuses for not helping (even though I pay him up to 40% of what I earn!). The last gig I done went down a storm but I`ll hopefully be moving soon and what with christmas and the kids , I think its just a bit too much stress. I know its not the best time of the year for a rest but I think i`d rather have a
  22. I like stardusts music sounds beter on holiday. Classic Dance Track
  23. DJ Kit can be a pain if you have a problem. I bought a numark cd II off them and had probs but I kept getting fobbed off saying they lost my part no, serial no: order no etc etc etc. I gave up in the end (I only had the unit for about 6 mths and it had only been used twice) and paid for it to be repaired by a good friend. Thankfully it has solved the problem. When I bought the unit, I was told by the sales assistant (I went to their shop) that they have alot of units come back because the units are banged about in transport which dislodges the cd players. He checked mine before I took it hom
  24. I have just done my first disco using my laptop for karaoke and background music. Normally I just use it to list my tracks. The Laptop crashed on me once though I believe I was running too much at once. The Laptop is a 700Mhz 128MB P3 running win xp, atomix and winamp with cdg plugin and also excel for my track listings. The karaoke worked fine, also the background music went well. However, it went so well that I fancy using the laptop more to play more main stream music and using the cds as a backup. I have a few questions.... 1. Im not sure whether to use the same laptop for it or get an
