    21st Party

I'm doin'g my nieces 21st on Saturday,as her gift (rather than try to buy something that a 21 year old would find usefull and not be relagated to a drawer or on ebay coz it's naff or what ever the in word is for rubbish these dayz)Had a few tunes in mind but got some more now thanks to this topic,so glad I stopped by.It's a mixed family do so will still be able to play my usual disco 70's 80's stuff....must go find my leg warmers and spandex. :thanks:

  9. Hi Guys and Galls, have done the gig that I stupidly misquoted the price for,and it was brill, loads of good singers, some absolutly bad but very entertaining, lots of people dancing,no agro, beautiful buffet that was brought out fresh(had not been sitting about for hours on end, like so many places do)only 2 people asked "can you play.."and all karaoke slips written out in full and not 1 "av you got...(that realy does make a nice change)everyone enjoyed the day/night, and 2 further bookings ...was a reet good do! I'm happy now. :good:

  13. The mistake I made was that I quoted a 4 hour price for an 8 hour gig, as I had misheard the finish time, and didn't repeat the time back to the client. My stupid mistake entirely.Perhaps a slight exaggeration on the £000's misquoted but certainly I will be out of pocket so to speak.Never the less the client shall have an excellent day by booking my services and hopefully I will get more bussiness from her guests in future,I will just have to hope that she dosn't disclose how much she paid me to any of them.Incidently the gig is this weekend so I hope my energy levels are at an all time high, and
  14. you spend £££££'s on creating an easy readable and nicely presented up to date karaoke book, easy to understand and fill out request slips, pens that write, anounce the karaoke about to begin and where the books are situated, and what do you get for most of the night?........ Av you got ? LOOK IN THE BOOOOOK!with a smile of course. :wall:
  15. Depends on venue but I get asked mostly for :- sway-dean martin private dancer-tina turner all right now-free bohemian rhapsody-queen my way-sexpistols summer nights-travolta/newton-john Many others, can't think just now,but Elvis is alive and well in my local.Have quite a lot of up 2 date discs but rarely get asked for them, seems every one prefers the oldies, thats young and old singers alike.
  16. Thankyou and everyone for your words of wisdom,it's a learning curve and I won't be making the mistake again. As I have mostly done things for family and friends have never realy thought about the need for a contract, but as I am now being asked by friends, friends of friends (after seeing and hearing me at F&F gigs)I most certainly will be providing a contract from now on,in fact Big B very kindly sent me one via e-mail and am busy entering my details. As to the underquote....It's the latter figure  Dizzy by name.....
  17. As a female KJ/DJ I would probably not, maybe if there was a drag act or stripper also in attendance I might, but I find all girls together prefer a male DJ.
  18. Any ideas on what I could say to someone that has booked me for a birthday party,I gave them a price and they accepted it but have since realised that the hours involved are longer than I thought I heard on the phone would you:- A=just do it for the agreed price, then get ears shringed B=try to explain and ask for more cash C=reduce the hours D=cancell the gig I think I might know what your answer will be,but am interested on what you and others would do or have done in this situation. Thanks
  19. :bouncy: Gramophone, not heard that for ages, reminded me of the first record my mum bought God bless her,it was a Banjo songs LP that she insisted on playing at every visit. It's now a plant pot in the greenhouse.
  20. Hiya, managed to convince the owner to let me set up in a different place to where he wanted me to,still short on space but could put 1 speaker on a ledge and other on tripod with my partner on idiot duty all night.Think that it was more of a disco that was required as not many singers and the ones I did get could shout over four fields and therefore made the mics redundant.I prefer to do mostly Karaoke and so cannot see a return visit any time soon, but it was somewhat enjoyable, apart from my eyes stinging from the aroma of a small striped animal .
  21. :thanks: I realy didn't want to put the speakers on the floor,so after reading out your replies to my partner they are not going on the floor. :fish:
  22. Hiya,I am doing a Karaoke/Disco at a venue that is quite small and so space for me is limited. My partner thinks that I should put my speakers (EV's) on the floor either side of my set up,but I'm not sure.Would anyone care to offer any advise please.Thank you.
