  1. I should think any decent disco DJ shop will have these, and many online suppliers if you dont mind paying carriage...google is your friend.

Bender & Wirth are the best brand to get.

    Thank you.

  2. On mine, C8 is a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor, they may not be fitted on purpose as they are part of the HF input filter to the 5V IC regulator which usually work happily without. They've probably been left out as the resourceful chinese may have found out they don't need them.

    Hi

    Thanks for that.

The capacitors were there as I can see the remains of the old ones, however, given what you have said, do I actually need to get them replaced ?

    Thanks again,

    Glenn.

  3. Hello,

    Me again.

Can anyone recomend a supplier for the 24v 250w lamp holders - as per twister 4's etc. I can only find the lower wattage and voltage ones.

    Thanks again,

    Glenn

  4. Hello,

I must admit I haven't posted for a while but having read the other datamoon threads I think I will ask for some help and advice.

I have two datamoons that I am giving the once over and both of them need a component replaced on the PCB, the location on the board is marked "C8" so I am guessing capacitors are required (can that be confirmed??), but can anyone tell me what rating these should be, and where I might get them from.

The 'moons in question are the ones built in china - if that makes any difference.

    Thanks for the help,

    Glenn.

  5. cheers for your comment Glenn,

carlsbro do make some really good gear i know a friend who uses a carlsbro pa for live osund ive heard it and it sounds really good

as for the humming when the musics playing i always think itll damage the speakers is that true itll damage them?

I have heard that high pitched feed back can damage speakers but i don't know about the humming. Would be interesting to find out though.

Over to the speaker wizz kids I guess

  6. nope i use a behringer ultravoice wired mic its a good mic sounds good id say as good as a sm58 or so

will be getting a wireless mic soon

what wireless mic have you got because im staying clear of the cheap ones for sure :D

    :D Good call :D

It's a Carlsbro mic. It is a UHF model but it was sub£100 when I bought it and apart from the humming it's a good mic.

I am sure it is something simple to fix, like adjusting the squelch or changing the leads etc. It's one of those jobs that seems to get pushed to the back of the to do list if you know what I mean.

You can't hear the hum when the music is playing and I do use a corded mic too.

    Good luck,

    Glenn.

  7. Hi,

First post for a while but this one caught my eye.

I had a similar annoying buzzing through my rig. I did everything that has been suggested in the other posts and in the end it came down to interference coming through my radio mic receiver - just a thought, but it is something else worth checking I guess (supposing you have a radio mic that is :D )

    See ya,

    Glenn

  8. Hi all,

This may well be in the wrong place, but.....

Now, I don't want to be accused of trying to teach people to suck eggs but from my experiences this last week I would like to encourage everyone to make sure sure their P.C's virus protection is running upto date and correctly.

After several days of frantic phone calls and calling in favours from friends, I have now managed (some what expensively) to recover from an trojan horse attack.

The virus hit after I opened a few emails (all from known sources) and unknowingly opened a link informing me my P.C was infected - open floodgate !!!

The anti virus program I was using had apparently been updated a few minutes before but failed to pick up the threat. This was one of the free programs off the net.

I now pay for a full antivirus program and feel a lot safer.

Luckily, I seem to have got away with it reletivley painlessly but if I had had a lot of sensitive stuff on my P.C. I think I would now be in a lot of trouble.

So, from my personal experiences, have a heads up on me - get your virus programs sorted and get your important stuff backed up.

    All the best,

    Glenn

  9. If that is the case they really should delete them from their website. Still listed earlier today.

According to the email I received, they state they no longer sell lasers.

However I saw them still on the site as well when I was looking into my own machine - just a bit confusing !

    Glenn.

  10. Hi,

    I use a zoom Z30.

It is an awesome machine and chucks thousands of bubbles high and far but, having now used it I would think long and hard before buying another the same.

The tray that holds the fluid is very flimsy and mine has now been repaired twice.

Emptying the tray at the end of the night is a bit fidley as you have to prop open the lid at the same time as pulling out the tray.

Also, although it comes with a hanging bracket, the thought of a machine that size hanging from a gantry is quite off-putting.

If you can live with that then yes they are very good.

    Cheers,

    Glenn.

  11. Hi

I am with VOKF on this one - I use a bubble machine but only run it for a few seconds (that's all the time it needs, it's more of a bubble monster) every so often.

I think it's the same with a lot of things in life - moderation rules.......!

    Glenn.

Edit - I will add that if a venue or customer does not allow or want bubbles, the machine stays on the van.

  12. Hi all.

I have re-advertised and re-contacted past clients and the phone has started ringing again and some future bookings are starting to come in (at last).

However, I am still very quiet in the short term, so...

If anyone needs someone to pass a gig or two on to in the Suffolk area, please give me a call, I may be able to help. I usually work within a 40 mile radius of home (Wickham Market) but would be happy to travel further if travelling allowances were taken into consideration.

I am able to play comfortably to audiences of upto 150ish people and am experienced with Wedding receptions etc, birthday parties (most ages), kids parties, themed nights, fund raisers etc etc.

Please feel free to contact me via a PM or via the mobile if prefered - 07903 708502 (I usually take calls upto about 8pm but will answer all messages asap). I can also be reached via the email address below.

    Thanks in advance,

    Glenn.

  13. Well..........

I am prepared to believe in "the beyond" but still need convincing, however I have had the following experiences:

I used to be the Maintenance manager at large department store in Ipswich and the job used to keep me on site until all sorts of bizarre hours. The building itself was built in the early 90's on the site of an old Monastery (an archeological dig etc was carried out before building started). I would regularly see shadows moving across the floors and often had the feeling of being watched. I also used to find dirty footprints in the carpets that were well away from the doors, and would vanish by themselves.

Other people who worked there also used to report "odd" things going on.

On returning home from a fishing trip to Shingle Street, the journey took me past the air base at Woodbridge - famous for the UFO encounter in the 80's. As I drove along the road towards home I saw a red globe in the sky that seemed to follow the car along the road until I was just past the base, then it disappeared.

On holiday in Nottingham (I know, it's an odd place to take a holiday) we (the family) stayed in a cottage on a farm. As soon as we walked in I was uneasy.

Every night I felt as if there was something else there with us (and some entries in the visitors book hinted at that as well), and one night when I was making drinks on my own in the kitchen I had a very hiss noise made close behind me, I checked but found no one.

After we returned home even the wife said she had felt uneasy there, which is strange because she doesn't usually feel anything !!!

    Anyway, enough of my reminiscing,

    :scared: :scared: :scared:

    Glenn.

  14. I like the effect too but on past experience i am going to wait till i see it in the flesh so to speak. I liked the acme centrepiece as the videos looked really good but on reflection seeing it in the flesh it was not very good. I found out that all the online videos are shot in pitch black rooms hence thats why they look good.

    Alan

    Hi Mate,

The online videos do make the light look good and like you I am concerned how this influences the images. I've made the the mistake of buying on spec in the past and have no wish to do it again.

I will have to try the (not so) local DJ shops and see if anyone has them in.

    Cheers,

    Glenn.

  15. Hi all,

I have been looking at the on line demo's for the Equinox Triclops and while it looks pretty good on the 'puter, I was just wondering if anyone had any first hand experience of one?

I am interested to know what they are like in the real world.

    Anyone got one yet.......?

    Cheers,

    Glenn.

  16. Hi,

My web site construction is coming along painfully slowly at present but I am at a point where I need to add some photo's to add some visual impact.

I have done a quick internet search for photo's to use but all that I have found so far are watermarked etc by others.

Does any know of a site that I can legally aquire copy-right free, non watermarked and preferably free (!!) photo's that I can use. The sort of thing I am after is generic Wedding stuff like cakes, rings and flowers etc along with generic party stuff.

I am going to assume that most stuff available will be watermarked in some way, but if any one can help.......

I should point out that these pictures will be used to add a bit interest on the various pages - I will be adding my own pictures too as well as having a captioned gallery page.

As ever thanks for your comments,

    Glenn.

  17. Hi

I've decided to stick with the CD players.

After some investigation (see other threads) it seems it is not as straight forward as I thought it should be to change over to digital..... :scared:

    Cheers,

    Glenn.
