    I'm a Roadie for a DJ
  1. Hey, Sorry everybody, just didn't think. Although, like you said, I can only get smarter from here on in! I feel like such a loser! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Cheers
  2. I try my best! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Hey, dont get me wrong, I am a complete newbie! If there was ever any doubt in your mind about this then perhaps you should read this post. I feel like such a loser! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif Sorry Chris!
  3. Ok, but go easy on me... I'm new to this remember, and I'm here to learn from you guys. QUOTE 1.What 10 records would you play at a club if you could choose? Ok, well I'm new to the "clubbing" scene, and I would have to use the croud, as well as the type of club inorder to determine the genre of music to play. But I'm sure something with a definite beat would get me by. A selection of varying tempos to slowly build the atmpsphere. QUOTE 2. Why do you want to be a dJ and do you think you have what it takes?. I want to be a DJ because I love music. I dont mind being up front, and
  4. Here is something a friend suggested, now I know there is a reason, but I have no idea what!!... Whats the difference between a big beafy car amp, and the hi-fi ones typically used by DJ's ?? Also, are there differences between car speakers too? Cheers
  5. Ok, thanks for that... I tell you, even now, I am always just going for a quick peek in the music stores, or online. I tell you... I'm adicted already!
  6. Ok, thanks... how far back do I need to go??
  7. I want to build my DJ collection before I go ahead and invest in all the equipment! I have very few CD's at the moment. What is the best way to go about getting a wide variety of musical genres? I guess I have to have some music frmo the last 30 years, as well as the latest chart songs? Whats the best way to build and maintain the collection? How regularly do I have to feed it more music? Cheers
  8. Yet another question which plagues my mind. Firstly we have established that DJ Gear over here is way overpriced. Second, I am not flush with cash, rather an aspiring DJ, on a students budget! Much to some of your disgust I am thinking about attempting to build my own speakers. That way, I can do it in smaller segments, rather that one burst of cash. However, an interesting thought entered my mind. That was this… In order to power these new beauty speakers I am going to build, I will need an amp. Planner of building a system (as Chris suggested) of around 600-1000W. I need to know a litt
  9. You never know... I could be the next fatboy slim in the making http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  10. Ok, so you call it beatmixing, and its basicially just mixing two songs together that have similar beats, thus giving the impression of continuous track. For some reason the thought I had in my mind was quite different. I thought it would be more "created on the fly". Using a device to create the beats, then mixing in parts of other songs, in loops etc. Rather than just crossfading between already 'arranged' pieces. Is this soemthing different? Cheers
  11. Hi there, The other night (quite late) I was listening to the radio in my car. They have late on a Friday night, what you might call a club mix. Ummm, a never-ending mix of a beat, mixed in with bits of well known songs. Like a club DJ I think you might call it. I hope you know what I mean… anyway, the fact of the matter is, I really quite enjoyed it! I wanted to know a little more about it. Is this what DJ’s in clubs do? (As opposed to my skill full dual CD changing http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)! Is this typically a turntable only practice? Or can I do it usi
  12. I know that this thread is pretty old, but I have something to say on this topic! I used to be right into downloading music off the net. I have since seen the error of my ways, and being the law abiding citisen that I am, I have got rid of all my music. Now, I'm trying to build the collection back up. What I would sooooo buy, is (like whats already been said) a compilation cd, produced on a regular basis or all the chart songs. That way, you get all the hit singles in one go. If your doing a school gig, or similar, obviouly the kids want to rock along to what they hear last night on the
  13. That'd be fine Kray, just dont forget to give me a little time (ie. dont leave it till the last minute!) as my worload can be quite big sometimes! Cheers
  14. No worries. For DJ-Forum members only, I'll offer you some free webdesign, and a limited time of free hosting. If you want a domain name (www.djexample.com), then that you must pay for http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif. Its like property these days I tell you! Otherwise, there are plenty of free redirects avalible (eg. www.djexample.cjb.net) <--- that is free because of the cjb.net part. Cheers
  15. If anyone is serious about getting a website happening, let me know. Unline DJ-ing (yet) webdesign is something where i know what I'm doing. If you'd like a little help getting started, or perhaps some to take those first few steps for you, then I'm your man! I was doing a little thinking, and a perhaps a handy feature would be an online catalogue of your song list, and a submission process to build and submit a custom playlist. I can help you with this. Anyway, jsut an idea! Cheers
