  1. Well, my set-up is finally on the road Did a gig on 28th November which was good. Felt great to be in charge of my own disco again, but PROPERLY this time, as I've now got my gantry and speaker stands sorted. just waiting on the name board now... :-) Word of mouth has got me a disco each month up untill June and most of these are confirmed bookings too! The van is on the road and looks good with the tranfsers on and after its had a good clean-up (white vans never seem to stay white for long...) Also, it seems I'm going to be busy with Graham's Silver Fox Sounds disco too next ye
  2. Anyone else get requests from people who tend to disappear once the track's been queued? Happens to us all the time. We'll play it, if you'll listen to it!
  3. Well I turned up at a gig when I was DJing for mates bday parties and I got handed a bag of CDs and told to play everything off them! At the last gig I did with Graham, some :cense: handed over a Hed Kandi CD and told us to play something off that. Not track specific. Between Graham and I (being a lover of dance music myself) found about 3 tracks we recognised and stuck one on to find out it's a 7 minute remix which mixes straight in to the next track. Same thing happened with a drum and bass CD too... However, we gained the Hed Kandi CD, as the punter disappeared without his C
  4. Well, my first proper sound set-up, which is great for small - medium sized venues was a 250Watt Gemini X1 amp and 2 x Gemini speakers which I think cost me around £250 new from Sapphires... and Im still using it!!
  5. yes... karaoke isnt brilliant. Graham and I host a few disco/karaoke nights, but I much prefer hearing the real renditions of the songs and watching people dance to them. Beats getting mic feedback, screaming, shouting, and that terrible bad high note you know they cant reach. Yes, "Dancing Queen" is good for dancefloors, whereas "I will survive" is more of a "lets have a sing-song cos we're :cense:" sort-of-track. Works towards the end of a typical village disco though... You can often hear a chorus of slurred renditions when its played... EDITED BY ADMIN TO REMOVE FOUL LANGUAGE
  6. Hey everyone. I'm Chris aka DJ OSKA. I've been into mobile discos since I were a very young lad, where I used to spend all the kids discos hanging round with DJs. I come from and live up in North Norfolk and my first disco experience was when I was 10yrs old and the lads from "Saturn Sounds" let me help them at a christmas party at Blakeney RBL. After that, I used to help a chap called John from what was then called "Mixtures" mobile disco and he'd give me CDs after I helped him. Also, I had a home-made disco in my bedroom which consisted of battery torches and light boxes that my
