  1. Nexo PS8 are great but you could also try the Void Mycro 8 - they're about £600/pair 300w rms and 98db/w/m and have a top-hat for stands. The best thing about the Void over the Nexo is that you don't have to use a special controller, which you do for the Nexo
  2. Agreed, but if one tried to use the portable CD player to get any sort of volume out of the speakers, the CD player would have to be turned up to max and that, in turn, would probably start it clipping and cause a lot of distortion. It's better to have a big amp ticking over than a small amp run to the max.
  3. That amp only puts out 300w per side at 4ohms so is seriously underpowered to 550w worth of speakers. With a bigger amp, you will have more headroom and therefore a cleaner signal and better sound. At the moment, it is like trying to run a Transit with a 1.1 Fiesta engine in it; you'll get there, but it is working very hard.
  4. As mentioned above, don't sell your amp - even if you have three. You never know when you might need a spare. There are 2 pole, 4 pole and 8 pole speakon connectors. I've had a look at the specs on your amp and it is only rated at 500w per side at 4 ohms so, assuming that each of your cabs is rated at 8ohms, it would seem to me that the amp is underpowered to run bins and tops on each channel. If your tops are 4 ohms and your bins are 8 ohms, then linking them in parrallell will result in a load of 2.67 ohms and your amp is not rated that low so you could seriously shorten the
