  1. He He, thanks for that, but it's rapmeister who wants to know about settings, I have a Maya USB 4 Ch ASIO sound card, so the ASIO setup works just fine for me.
  2. I'm not sure that's quite the case for old versions fester, I looked into this when I was buying VDJ pro to see if buying a s/h old version and then upgrading to the latest would be cheaper, I'm sure they charge on a sliding scale, and when I looked at buying 3.5 and then paying for the upgrade to 5.x (at the time) it wasn't worth it. But I did get free updates from 5.x to 6.x onwards.
  3. I've been digital for a couple of years now and my weapon of choice is now VDJ, when I decided to digitise my cdg collection I used it to play those as well, it works well enough, but is very heavy on processor use when playing karaoke tracks, I don't want to replace my dj laptop, it's setup how I want it and does nothing other than gigs - never let me down, but it was only just coping. So I looked at other ways to play my cdg+mp3 tracks, I now use winamp with a plugin called pacemaker for key changing, it uses much less processor, and I run it at the same time with no problems. When winamp i
  4. I have to echo mikeyb's comments on watching out for the dancefloor, I gave up using my m/c on wooden floors as they quickly get very slippery if you keep the bubbles going for long. That said - kiddies birthday parties love 'em!
  5. I 'm afraid I can't offer any opinion on the Acme, but I had a demo of the Tri Phase yesterday and bought one on the spot, it was THAT good! I'd said to the shop owner that I didn't rate LED effects as they didn't reach out into the room like my halogens do - he demo'd the Tri Phase and with smoke it's Fantastic! I'm fully intenting to buy another one soon and run one on each end of my goalpost rig.
  6. Gotta agree! - I only ever set up early if the venue/room is going to be locked or I know the place well. Usually set up the rig & lights, keep the mics, tunes and amp till kick off.

Sorry, I never intended to insinuate that you had, sometimes in forumspeak the written word doesn't convey what you really meant, especially when you don't type the words you mean. I guess I was really comparing the way she is marketed to the others and meant they're all pretty much the same, she's no worse, but no better either.

Hee Hee! It depends on wether you intend to keep your opinion in it's original format, if you decide to transfer it to alternative formats, you will the Pro Opinion license as you would now have two copies of your own opinion! smile icon I'm amazed at how much traffic Ms GaGa has generated in this thread, as stated already EVERYONE is perfectly entitled to their opinions on Lady GaGa, but I never let my personal personal preferences stop me playing a customer request, it might stop me buying the track in the first place, but when something is requested frequently you've just gotta bite
  9. I bow to your greater knowledge - it's never happened to me tho' on several rigs and many many cars - surely if you 'run the amp too hard' you're gonna get some warning signs, those flashing red lamps and the hideous sound quality as it clips your signal? Ignore those and you deserve all you get!

I don't think she's got the talent to be the next Xtina or Britney, but she's released a couple of decent pop dance tracks that I keep getting requests for, so she's hot right now, will she be hot in 12 months time? Crystal ball says no..... Who really cares, if she's still hot I'll be playing her tunes, if not the next big thing will be riding the charts.
  11. Very true, I did a 60th Wedding Anniversary a couple of weeks ago, held in an old folks version of Butlins, there were motorised wheelchairs, zimmer frames and crutches parked all over the place, but they were up for a party and after the buffet danced all night long till 1am, the vast majority of their guests were 60+, but I pretty much played the usual, motown, rock n roll, party classics, they even asked for Agadoo  - and as the customer is always right they got it! plus a lot more, they even asked for Big Fish, Little Fish which is a kiddies song, I didn't have it, but with the power
  12. Assuming your amp only has two outputs, one for left & one for right, and you pair your speakers two to a channel giving you 675Wrms/channel I'd be thinking of a 1000W amp (500W/channel) , that way you know it can't blow your speakers. Blowing the amp is much less of a problem nowadays, they all tend to have overload protection. As long as your amp can't supply more than the rms rating of the speakers you connect, you should be fine. Personally I run a 1000W Carlbro mixeramp into 2x 400W Peavey's and 2x 300W Gemini's.
  13. I use a six way individually switched extension block, fastened to the top bar with releasable cable ties.
  14. It's a simple fact of life that you get what you pay for. I've had Skytec speakers before and they were not very good, but they were cheap and at the time in my price range. In fact I recall blowing the main driver and replacing it and it's partner with Eminence - gave a much improved sound. Personally the Peavey's I'm running now are sooooooo much better it's chalk & cheese. I avoid all budget brands now, for professional performance you need professional equipment, if cost is a problem then you're far better off buying quality secondhand than brand new rubbish. All my quality equipm
  15. I have most of my gear on those round pin plugs for gardening equipment - ain't no-one gonna have some of those lying around, started that at my residancy in Derby where often people arranged their own dj, but I left my gear backstage - bar the amp and music of course. Charging for early setup? - Very rare event for me, I do set up early for a local gig if it suits me, allowing me to arrive later in the evening, if a long distance client specifies an early setup I'll factor that into the price.
