yeh i have noticed a few people saying its quite bad this year, im keeping my head up though as i like doing the djing so im not givin up for a long time ha ha, and as for the price, im not doing it so cheap it will scare people to thinking im rubbish but not so high they expect pete tong to turn up. we had a bloke for our xmas party at work and he charged £170 (180 in the end £20 out of my own pocket as people was enjoying themselves and i wanted the party to carry on for them) but im not charging that much £50 less infact lol. i think thats a ''in the middle of the road'' price for a new dj.

ahh cherrs jim, have taken on borad what you have said. i know what u mean bout the flyers and things, just think 1 bookin in 2 months is weak lol. i dont charge a major amount due to being new and all that so cant be the prices unless there are djs round hear charging a pittence. will wait for that phone to start ringing lol

yeh i know what u mean, only done one gig so far and there wasnt as many people as they was supposed to be there and i knew most of the people there so givin them my cards was pointless lol. just need sum bookings to flood in lol

ok im a mobile dj but i have got all the gear needed to do video dj and karaoke (screens and sofware) all i need is to know where u people get your music videos and karaoke videos from? i have a few music video dvds but you can't rip them to the laptop so how do you get around this?

i got a equinox 30mw green lazer that i use when ive got more of the dancy stuff on, get some smoke in the room and it looks excellent. crowd love it i must admit. i would reccomend anyday. dave

yeh i agree paul it is a great feeling, were does the time go thou!it seem to go so quick. and yeh i think next time i will look down the gap between the wardrobe (thats were the poles wer hiding) everything else is in big plastic storage containers so i cant realy forget anything. such a rush thou and cant wait to do it again :Thumbup:

cheers people for the positive replys. just need that phone to start ringing now. that job last night was for a friend. the person who owned the sports centre has had my number as she was impressd! i was shocked! my first gig and shes has loads of djs there and she wanted my number. was quite taken back so hopefully i will get sum business out of that. so all in all going good so far

did my first gig last night and it went well, althou i was told there was going to be around 100 people and there was 30 if your lucky! was a good night though and i enjoyed every second, apart from having to back homa as fast as the van could take me as i forgot the lighting poles :aa but otherwise all in all was good. cant wait for the next one now!

mine did the same, then added one of those isolaters and sound quality is perfect now. i would deffo reccomend having one.

ok i got a dmx controller (transcension show controller jc-1) i want to link it to my dynatwin 250 (would be nice to link it to all my lights but thats the main one i want to link it to). it knows its there because when i turn the controller on it turns the light off and vice versa. i cant quite figure out how to make a channel for it to work on or summet, ive had a look at the instruction books with no answers. new to this so any help would be greatley appreciated. thanks dave

i legally download all the time and all my cd's are originals :lol2: i therefor do not need a licence.........yet lol from what i have read about all these licences they are a blady ripp off and are not needed!! grrrr laws these days get up my nose!

ok cheers lads thats a big help, just a few more niggles. 1) how would these people know if you have put the cds on ur hard drive from a cd and not downloaded? 2) do you need a licence to comply with PLI insurance? 3) if i have cdr's with music on them, whats not saying i have the originals at home and i just dont want to wreck them with the mobile dj'ing? 4) the main one.....is it a legal requirement? 5) how can they enforce what they want you to do? (as in only have 5000 tracks on your laptop) can they just turn up to a gig? or can they legally check your laptop if needbe?

ok ive had a look round at what you need to be legal and ive gone roud in circles!! do you need a licence or not? heres the stats mobile dj useing laptop and pioneer cdjs do i need a licence or not? had a look at one forum somewere and it said the only licence that was required was suspended under reveiw. then i looked at another and its knockin on for £300 for a digital dj licence that apparentley you have to have to operate? whats true and whats complete mush? if i doo need a licence what do i need and were from? cheers

i got 99% of my music on my laptop, i think its alot easyer than the cds. someone said earlyer in the thread it annoys them when someone asks for a tune and you know it will go down well but you cant remember what folder its in, all i do is use the windows search box on the start menu. finds that tune you want in a split second, even if you only know what part of the title is it will bring up all the suggestions for you. hope this has been some help and i havent just wrote the same as someone else ha ha.

transport is fine as i have got a transit van so side is not realy much of an issue and as for lifting them and that, there wont be much lifting done as i have also got a trolly for the heavy stuff so very little lifting is needed. thanks for all ur replys, i will be defentley be geting a set of these. seen some on ebay with amps and eq, just havent got the money yet so im gutted about that! grrr

yeh im going to specialise in hed kandi and ministry of sound for the younger ones as there is not alot arond like that (well not round these parts) and we all know younger like a bit of bass (i should know i am a younger one ha ha) and offering the younger ones that like electro and things like that a proper dj on proper vynil decks. so it will be a bit different for them and they love a dj on proper decks
