  1. Another enquiry arrived 5 minutes ago.

It gives the area (not the venue), the date (but not the times) and a name (forename only).

Apart from the fact that I don't cover London W3, why would anyone pay £2:50 for such incomplete information?

I didn't ask to be listed and I have asked to be removed.

  2. This is an excellent, lightweight centrepiece. If you're not familiar with it a quick Google will bring up full details.

Very bright, LED, RGB unit with 3 motorised mirrors. Can be set to run through automatic programs, sound to light or controlled from a DMX controller.

Used once and in mint condition, in original packaging with instructions.

Current retail is up to £129.

    £79 delivered.

  3. Earlier today I was speaking to someone who used to be a registrar and who is still in touch with her old colleagues.

She told me that there has been a marked reduction, in the local area, in applications for wedding licences.

Bad news for anyone specialising in weddings.

  4. I've had the same enquiry yet again, with not enough information and not in my area.

    This is it:

The wedding will be held in Exeter, Devon UK.

The date of the wedding is August 18 2012.

You can reply to (First name).

    Hello

I would like to know if you can do my wedding and cost please!

    Thank

  5. I only hope that when things do improve, that couples plan to hold their weddings 6 - 12 months ahead, rather than 1 - 2 years, although I can't see this change happening myself :scared: .

Whereas at this time in 2009 and 2008 nearly all the prime wedding months were full (and then some) mostly with bookings made 9-12 months previously, this year is looking dire.

Assuming the possibility that couples may leave it until only a month or two before the event (which, in itself, suggests a lower quality of potential booking) then things may turn out OK.

As it is bookings held for 2011 are 60% down on 2010 which, in turn (at the end), was 40% down on 2009 and the first time I was not booked for New Year's Eve..

My promotional spend has gone up but enquiry rates are much lower.

    I'm beginning to think that I should regard 2011 as a write-off!

  6. Apparently Tender Weddings set up an account for me for free.

I've had the same enquiry 3 or 4 times for a wedding in Devon. The only other information is "can you do it" and "how much?"!

Disregarding the fact that I don't cover Devon, it's very difficult to give any idea of price etc. with so little information.

A few days ago I had another enquiry, this time for a venue I'm familiar with, for 2012.

The enquiry mentioned the venue, the date and 50s, 60, 70, 80s, Motown.

I sent an email to Tender Weddings to say that there was simply not enough information. I don't like the idea of "tendering" for jobs anyway because that more or less makes it all about price.

The site owners responded and gave me a credit (normally £2:50) to allow me to respond to the enquirer and to see what would happen.

I sent a comprehensive message plus a .pdf brochure.

    Result: Nil.

Can't say I'm surprised. Even if the enquiries supplied enough information I still wouldn't buy them - not at £2:50 each.

Far better for potential clients to be enquiring about my service by finding my website.

  7. I bought this last year out of curiosity. Unfortunately it doesn't fit with my current rig.

It is well built, lightweight, surprisingly bright and looks good with or without smoke/haze. It creates a shower of vibrant colours and covers a wide area.

    Spec is:

    6 x 3W LEDs (RGB)

    IEC daisy chain function

    Sound activated or auto sequence

    Adjustable sound sensitivity

    Power supply 230Vac, 50Hz

LED beam angle 130° Luminous flux: 80LM

    LED Quantity 6pcs of 3W (2 x Red, 2 x Green, 2 x Blue)

    Laser & LED safety standard BSEN60825-1 2007

    Dimensions 360 x 270 x 270mm

    Weight 3.75kg

DJKit.com and various other suppliers have this unit at £79 -£79.95.

    I'm looking for £45 delivered.

  8. I had a pair of the passive version (briefly) a few years ago as back-up kit.

They were quite bassy. I heard them only once when I tested them and never had to use them in anger.

When they first came out (quite a long time ago) the sales slogan was "I can't believe they're not EV".

  9. Terralec stock a JB Systems direct drive turntable for £99.

The same unit is probably sold under other brand names - possibly for less.

Images stock a KAM branded, Technics inspired (copy) unit for £89.50.

  10. I left it deliberately vague... no one should be relying on forums for tax advice :-)

Sadly, with private healthcare, and salary over £37.4K, I'm paying 40% on my profits.. :damn:

Believe it or not, the 40% tax band is more generous now than it once was. When I was last employed (1991) I was in the 40% bracket on a salary of £28000. Adding the company car made it even worse!

  11.

thanks for getting back to me, take a look at this website its the koo sound official website and it they do sound pritty good for the money but i just dont wanna get em cuz its got good wattage i want them to have a good quality sound (how do you look for that in the spec)

Sensitivity of 105 at that price? Hard to believe.

You really need to hear them in the right environment or go on a recommendation you can trust.

Kool Sound is a French brand I think (but made in China).

  12. There are no specs. shown for these speakers which makes them suspect.

1200 watts RMS for the pair is mentioned but 1200 watts peak is mentioned too. Is this per cabinet?

If they are rated at a genuine 600 watts rms this sounds about right.

The question is how sensitive/efficient are they? A speaker with a higher rating will produce more sound, or be louder, using the same amount of amplifier ouput, than one with a lower rating.

Because of this it is possible that a more sensitive speaker with a lower RMS rating can sound louder, with the same amount of amplifier input, than a less sensitive one with a higher RMS rating

  13. Here's a question I know spinner will know the answer to, how many rack U's is the Numark D2 section?

    3U

Does the Cortex have to have Fat 32 formatting?

Probably. This seems to be the required standard for mass storage players ( if the keyboard search function is to be used - NTFS doesn't allow this).

Someone may know the answer, I have a seagate external 1tgb cased hardrive which works with MP3 playback on my home pc, however sometimes it seems to stop and think about it, making click click noises while it does it, if it does then the music stops for a second and then restarts, not what you would want when playing to a drunk audiance! Any idea whats happening or why, can it be stopped ?

3 possibilities. 1. Your drive needs to be split into smaller partitions (around 350gb is optimum). 2. you have too many tracks per folder. 3. It's on the way out.

  14. Do you mean the drive crashes after 10 minutes of playing time or the Cortex crashes or do you mean one or the other crashes after being switched on for 10 minutes?

Have you tried playing from the drive using the player from your PC?
