Artful Dodger - Rewind, Either seems to get screams of delight and a packed floor or nothing at all.

Wonderful. Thanks for taking the time guy's. I'll get something sorted from the info and arrive at my Operatic Socitey gig fully armed next year as they booked me again! I got out of the dilemma on the night by playing Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White. Wrong dance I know but they managed.

Did a night for the local operatic society last night. Not my usual crowd I must admit, but went really well. Was left a bit dumbfounded when the organiser asked me to play something they could waltz to. Dreadful, I know that my knowledge is a bit limited here. Is there a CD I could get hold of that has waltzes, foxtrots etc. on that an idiot like me use, with each dance for the music pinpointed? Which track would you have played as a kind of waltzy interlude?

I used one but moved it on - mainly because I hadn't done my homework and thought it had effects on the mic channels. One issue I did have with it was a high level of background 'hum' when connected. Not a problem when the music started as it didn't increase with the volume level, but there all the same. Otherwise, I was impressed. Very well put together and easy to use.

A couple of 'not so obvious' but that I find go down really well with the right crowd are: Mental as Anything - Live it up Five - Keep on Movin' (Yes really, this one can fill the floor at times!) Another I use regularly is, Steve Earl -Galway Girl. This is the Irish Music behind the Magners cider advert so everyone knows it. It's surprising how many times I've been asked what it is.
-
Thanks for the replys - I'll carry on as I am then. Subs first. Seems to work fine anyway!

Did a kids disco last week and got asked for tracks from the High School Musical soundtracks a lot (1,2 and 3). 'We're all in this together' being most requested. Also had to cram up on 'Hannah Montana' when I got home! Never heard of 'Ice Cream Freeze' before.

Got a few tech details now - The Yamahas are 8 ohm and seem to have parallel sockets and a crossover frecuency of 1.7kh ( it says on the spec) and yes, Welshy the crossover frecuency on the class d bins is 250mz. The boys in my band will take great interest in this thread when I show them, as we are never sure which way to go!

Sorry, I am being a bit vague. My subs are Class D 15''. 350w RMS 8 ohms. My tops are Yamaha S1151V 250w - Cant seem to find any RMS info. These are being driven by a C MARK MR2650 1200w power amp. Thanks for the help so far - much appreciated.

Just wondering if I'm doing this right...... Does it matter which way round you connect your Subs and Tops? At the moment I go from the left and right channel of my amp into each of my 15'' Subs and then run up to my top speakers. Does it make any difference if I go to the tops first and then run down to the subs? Cheers Mik

The bands called Total Wrex - Mainly T Rex, Bowie, Sweet, Mott the Hoople with a few Kaisers thrown in all that sort of thing. Funny , we find a lot of the younger end love it too. A lot of those old glam songs will never lose their appeal. We've never quite managed to pull off Tiger Feet though - too fast for our drummer! We're rehearsing 'Rocket' by Mud tonight though, what a great song. Bet no-one remembers it!

Just a quick intro - I'm attached to a covers band so do the discos to fill around and provide a full evening of entertainment. Also do a few shows on my own - odd weddings and birthdays. Just found this forum and I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions. Learnt loads already!!
