  1. Hey everyone, I joined this forum over a year ago, and only made 6 posts at the time. Basically, I am 15 years old (almost 16 ;)) and want to start a Mobile DJ business. Last time I was attempting to start everything on a very low budget, but this time it's going to work a bit differently. I didn't follow through with my plans last time, but now I really want to start a DJ business as I think I have gained a lot of business knowledge from other projects I have been working on. I will be going into business with a friend of mine. The beauty of this is that he already has a p
  2. I may be wrong - but, I believe Juno allows commercial use of them.. Rob :)
  3. Hey, I am also new to this - but the info I have gathered is as follows: If you intend to just play music purchased online, on the medium that it was purchased on (i.e. your hard-drive) then you don't need a licence. However, if you wish to change tracks from CD to MP3 files - or vice versa, you would need a Pro-Dub licence. Also, be careful with which sites you download your legal music from though - as some state in their T&C's that their music downloads are only available for private use and not commercial - which is what you would need. 4. Thanks a lot mate - more great info from you :) I will probably mix the current stuff from downloads and search round markets and car bootys for some used CD's with old tracks on - have seen them pretty cheap before - like a quid sometimes! We have mapped out the kit we will be buying to start off with, at a budget of £900. We have also joined forces with another mate too to spread the cost. We only really want to do it as a bit of a hobby, plus some extra cash on the side! Will keep you updated mate! P.S - do you know anything about the Mackie SRM350v2 speakers? I know th
  5. The major stumbling block atm is actually buying the music! The cheapest download sites are for personal use only, wheras the ones actually useable cost 79p per song Wow, the music industry is a big-money game!
  6. Thanks a lot mate! Thats exactly the kind of stuff I needed to know :) I will go through your post further once I get home, but thanks a lot! Rob
  7. Hey Guys, I am new to the forum - and my name is Rob, I am from Essex. I am a 14 year old boy, and I would like to start up a mobile disco business with my friend. We know how to DJ via a laptop and have the software etc. but need some advice on getting started. [*]Would people actually hire us knowing our age? I know a lot of people may be wary about two teenagers, and may just stereotype us to be rubbish and making some quick cash - which is not true of us, as we are hardworking and honest. If people would still hire us, we understand by reading through these forums
