  1. Like Rob, I have plenty of low paid work and could probably get more if I pushed it, with some better quality gigs booked for later in the year. I know some guys on here would rather a trip to the Dentist than do a low paid gig in a busy pub but I actually really enjoy these, it is nice to get a break from it to do weddings however. I also do lots of birthday parties and nearly all of the above work is within 15 minutes of my home so very happy overall, I also work a day-job, hope your plans work out Jason. Mike
  2. Ah I see, I just googled peavey pro 15 and the ones that came up were 4 Ohm
  3. You don't need to select anything, the amount of Ohms per channel depends on how many speakers you have connected and what rating they have, those speakers are 300W @4 Ohm and the amp is 450W @4 Ohm. This is fine, just keep an eye on your mixer levels and don't send a clipped signal to your amp.
  4. Swanflight are doing a case with a removeable sliding laptop tray, also DJkit (I Think) are doing a case for it. I have heard of some users having teething problems, but that is usually the case with any new controller, I think it is designed to work with traktor so if you use VDJ be prepared to map it yourself. The Denon DN-HC 4500 which I now use had similar problems when it was launched but it works flawlessly now with VDJ. Undoubtedly Denon will fix the problem and when they do they will have a terrific unit that will really suit the average mobile DJ, lightweight, full matrix mixer, two m
  5. Doing my res tonight and a 21st tomorrow night, my wed night karaoke res was cancelled this week, and won't be back until April at the earliest due to falling numbers so weekend gigs only from now until then. Even Friday nights are looking shaky, pubs seem to be getting quieter and quieter as the weeks go by.
  6. Second hand is the way to go I would say, or these are within budget, if you have an amp as you say, then these are a decent option in a small to medium venue.
  7. Thanks for the replies, I have decided to leave it and not try to make my own version. Between the copyright issue and the fact that this track will be gone in a few weeks after people get sick of it, it's probably not worth the effort. Thanks again
  8. Hi All, bizzare tune has become a major hit this side of the water, it's from two comedians called the rubberbandits, and is purely Irish humour. It is one of the most requested Karaoke songs at my res over the past two weeks, I have had to explain to punters that I simply can't get a Karaoke version, some people get really persistent so I have left them sing along with the original track with the lyrics, not ideal. I can't see Sunfly or any other provider covering it as it will never have any appeal outside Ireland. What would I need to make my own version, I don't even know where to
  9. the sx 300's are extremely popular with singers and DJ's over here, good speakers, you should be able to pick up a pair on ebay for reasonable money, and I doubt the zx 1 could be used on it's own, but it looks really smart set up the way I said, and is a very lightweight system overall, perfect for small gigs and sounded very good the few times I heard them, I'm completely converted to active, doubt I'll ever own a passive system again unless I see an absolute steal on ebay or something. Good luck with the shopping anyway.
  10. Hi Warren, I have heard a similar system a few times as a dj in my locality uses it. He uses the two 12" subs but the EV ZX1 tops rather than the sx300's, which are 8" & 200W I think, sounded great to me any time I have heard them and he also says they are very reliable, using the ZX1 may be better as you could safely use a distance pole between the subs and tops without fear of it toppling over, the sx 300 are the same weight as the sub so I think it could be dangerous to mount the sx 300 over the sub. I have never heard the system pushed however, no idea how they'd cope in a large functi
  11. If OP doesn't want it I'll have it! Can get it collected by courier. PM me but OP gets first dibs obviously. Been looking for one of these used or an RMX for ages for a monthly gig I do in a venue with installed PA, I only bring a laptop and DJIO Card but have alot of difficulty DJ'ing without a controller.
  12. It is indeed, not something you'll find me listening to in the car, but it goes down well in the res for some strange reason. Like alot of chart music it is utter crap but it's not up to me to dictate to clients what they should dance to. Goes down a storm at youth discos too, especially when I play the vid. Another tune to watch out for is , not sure if it's released yet but I reckon it'll be a big one, I've been playing it the past few weeks and it's going down really well.
  13. Nothing wrong with any of those tunes, the big one at the moment is Rihanna 'Whats my name', also Barbra Streisland, Who's that Chick, Whip my Hair and anything featuring David Guetta LOL. It depends on the crowd I guess. I also really like Shakira's 'Waka Waka', I still play it at most gigs even though it's out a long time now and it goes down really well, I also VJ and the video is great too. Mike
  14. I also spotted those and was amazed at the price as FBT have a pretty good reputation. Would also be interested to hear from any users of the range. There is also a really impressive looking 15" sub for very reasonable money.

    Cdpool

Quick question about CD Pool, when I get my disc, what format are they, is there a program that recognises the tracks so that I can convert them to mp3, or do they all have to be tagged individually when I'm ripping them? I only use laptop now can't remember the last time I played a CD, the big advantage in CD Pool for me would be the pre-releases, otherwise I would probably stick with downloading the ones I think I would use only.
  16. Try to get one second hand, new subs are expensive unfortunately, many people swear by the RCF 705's, DB Technologies also do a range of subs which would have a similar output to the RCF but are cheaper. Thomann also do some which are much cheaper again, and if you are only using them rarely, this might be the best option. If you need one week in, week out however, best to spend the money and get a really good one IMO. Aside from the cost they are also heavy and cumbersome, I don't know of any decent sub under 30kg so they are a real pain to carry to gigs, but do improve the sound and take the
  17. I got a good remix of it on www.yourremix.com. It's a sort of mash-up with Reel 2 Reel 'I like to move it' and the crowds so far have loved it. Got some really cool remixes off that site lately, they have a version of we no speak americano which features pitbull, and my head doesn't hurt after playing it like it does the Yolanda be Cool version LOL, it's american so not sure what the legality situation is with playing the tracks in the UK though.

    Cdpool

I'm also thinking of signing up to CD Pool, think I read somewhere that they are doing a deal at the moment, anybody use CD Pool? Do they get the new releases before they hit the charts? It is annoying when you are unable to buy a track online when it is all over the radio, I hate telling punters that I don't have it because it ain't released yet.
  19. The xlrs coming out of the back of your mixer both go into the back of the sub, then another two come out and go to your mackies. The sub basically takes the part of the signal (the low frequencies) that it needs and sends the rest to your speakers. If you are using two then one xlr lead to each, and then another xlr cable from sub to top.
  20. I'd certainly look at that Denon MC6000 that gadget mentioned, awesome piece of kit, but twice the price of the RMX. It is also a conventional mixer, ie has two inputs for CD Player units and has tone control on the mic inputs as david mentioned so might be a better unit overall. I hope to get one in the next 12 months to use with VDJ, waiting for some user reviews first to see if there are any problems with it though, safest bet at the moment for what you want is the RMX I guess, the mic issue is offputting though, hard to imagine why Hercules have not addressed this issue as it seems to be t
  21. I don't know alot about traktor, but I have been using VDJ for about a year now, and love it, so easy to use. I also do karaoke and video so use pretty much every feature, and have never really had a problem with it. In fact it is so easy to use, and makes life so much easier up to CD's that you almost feel like a cheat when DJ'ing with it. I look back over the playlist history all the time for ideas, and when I use the program with my Denon DN-HC4500 it is a pleasure to DJ, I highly recommend it.
  22. Ultimax make a deckstand that literally clicks together, it is called the ultimax four footer, it can be set up, including overhead in less than two minutes, starcloth another minute to fix to the base and you are done, any ultimax stockist should be able to offer you a demo. As for the lights, led pars are available for buttons now, look at stairville pars on thomann.de. Unless there is some sentimental reason for holding on to the lighting you have then you could easily replace them with LED pars, the KAM ones are alittle overpriced in my opinion, I have these which I use at most gigs, they
  23. those acme cougars look interesting, as soon as there is an LED moonflower that comes close to the halogen ones I would definately consider them, if you are in checking them out Dave can you give us some feedback, particularly on how they look without smoke, I'm hardly ever allowed use smoke in any venue I play.
  24. Impossibled and ADJ Revo's (not sure what marque) as some of the guys in my area use them, nothing wrong with them as such and boy do they light the place up, I just prefer my Datamoons due to the movements and range of colours and gobo's. On a packed dancefloor they are all the same really I suppose if you just need light splashing about the place. I love the Par panels, can be used on your overhead / t-bar or as uplighters or on the gound behind you, great bit of kit and so light to carry around.
  25. I have acme led par panels which are great, very versatile and lightweight, but eveything else I have is traditional halogen with bulbs. I have seen Led's in action and much prefer the traditional effect. Led's have a long way to come to match the traditional 250W halogen effect IMO, so can't see myself owning any LED's in the near future, pity because the advantage of no cool down time, lightweight design and no bulbs to change is very appealing, it is easy to see why they are so popular.
