Hi There, I'm a new member to the DJ Forum.

I work out of South Wales doing mostly Karaoke, however I'm getting a lot of requests recently for Karaoke / Disco shows (I've even been asked to do a Karaoke / Disco / solo artist spot as well, as I'm a bit of a singer). Joined this site to get info on the DJ side.

I'm also looking to renew my equipment with a view to reduce it's size and weight.

I Currently have a

Arcam 1200W amp (OTT for my speakers and I've blown three drivers in the past 18 months http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/oops.gif ),

A peavey 8 channel mixer,

A Peavey effects box,

A Lem Base Bin (heavy and big)

and Two Lem 10" speakers 150W. (heavy but small)

Add in my two Karaoke players, one used for background music, Portable TV and stand, Lights and T-stand and I have My hands full!

I'd appreciate any feedback, I've seen the Behringher PMH880M powered mixer with effects, that looks pretty good value and only weighs in at 9.4Kg and would replace three pieces of kit.

Does anyone know if they are any good? Also can anyone suggest a good compact 10" or 12" passive speaker.

Thanks http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thanks.gif

hi Gruff and http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/Welcome.gif along to DJU

as Marky Marc said, have you ever thought about active speakers.

i use FBTmaxx4 rated at 400w rms and they are only 16kg each. one of the lightest speakers in its class. they are a bit pricey at £1200 for the maxx4 and £1500 for the maxx5 which are 500w rms. have a look at FBT here

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif Welcome Gareth

I've just bought the Behringer PMH3000 and so far I'm very pleased with it. Haven't been able to give it any stick yet, but after new Year I'll be writing a review of it.

I'm a bit late here, but in reference to the guy who asks if LEM D400's are any good. I say yeah.

if you can get 'em for 310 quid, I say hell yeah!!

w've got a set we use for doing gigs with and they give us great performance. even in some big old rooms they can pack a real punch when you need it.
