Condenser Microphone

Recommended Posts

I picked one of these up from www.guitartek.com after reading a review of the Superlux range in PC- Pro magazine.

Guitartek Superlux PRA-238B

I was looking for a condenser mike for my Karaoke set-up because I have a regular gig in a very small pub where I get a lot of feedback unless I am very careful with my levels and positioning.

At £28.95 each, it was worth a try.

The mic itself is heavy and very robust, with a dual metal grill and wind shield and looks like it will last forever (I've been using it for 3 months now with no problems).

Sound reproduction is superb, (I prefer it over my SM58 and AKG mikes) with very little "popping" (t's and p's) as it's used it for speech in a quiz that I do.

Sound pick up is also very good, in fact I have my channel settings at around 2/3rds of my SM58 and AKG mics, which means I pick up less background noise and I have plenty of headroom for those quiet singers when I need it.

It looks good, it's well built, sounds great and at a price you'd find hard to beat with a standard dynamic mic let alone a condenser.

Great for karoake, please note that you need a Phantom supply to run it.
