feedback when I connect my lap top to my mixer

HI

 

I get feedback when my lat top is connected to the mains and my mixer, it is okay when running on its battery. What do I need to do to avoid this please ?

Do you mean feedback or is it mains hum. If it's the latter do a search on this forum as it has been covered (quite recently I think http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif )

If it's acoustic feedback, ie howling like from a microphone that's too close to a speaker, you've probably got your laptop built-in microphone switched on. It will provide foldback through the soundcard. Turn it off in your sound properties menu.

Get a ground loop isolator...the hum is caused by the laptop being plugged into the mains...

Hi all,

 

Here's an update, I picked up a ground loop isolator and took my stereo output from the laptop into the isolator, and took two mono outputs from the isolator into the mixer.

 

It worked perfectly!
