Andy Westcott 0
OK guys, I had a back tooth drilled on my birthday, Jan 6th. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif It was moderately painful as the tooth was difficult to anaesthetise, and the removal of the decayed part took the tooth almost down to the pulp cavity. The fact that there aren't any dents in the ceiling are testimony that breaking through was avoided........ http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif One interesting bit was when the drill bit got stuck in my tooth, and it had to be removed using the dentist's equivalent of a pair of pliers. 'Never had that before', muttered the dentist. No, I thought, neither have I. Took some getting out - I thought the tooth was going to come out with it. Anyhow, the whole point of this 'Tooth Blog' is that I was gleefully informed that the tooth will probably die off now, and as most of you know, when this happens it produces great amouns of pain, swollen tissues and swearing. I, for the enjoyment of all, am going to post a running report of how The Tooth is bearing up. I expect things to get exciting in a few weeks. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif Report as of Sunday 8th: Slight tenderness when biting, and a sensitivity to hot and cold. No actual pain as yet. Watch this space........

ChrisPointon 0
I made the effort to go to the dentist last November after a 2nd tooth chipped - my first visit for 4 years, but having found that I had been struck off by my previous NHS one I had no option but to find another dentist, the only one offering treatment was a private one 18 miles away . I now have a treatment plan ahead of me consisting of 8 fillings and 1 root canal. Since i'm the biggest Dental Phobic around (not helped by 3 bad experiences) i'm not looking forward to the coming months http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/014.gif Andy, I sympathise with you http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/014.gif
FrankieJ 0
I know exactly how you feel mate. I had loads of problems through December with my teeth. First of all I was up all night one Friday evening due to an infected tooth I had this removed on a emergency visit to the dentist on a Saturday morning then had to DJ that night http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif A few days had past and another tooth had also got infected resulting in absolute agony, this was also removed.... A day or so later the hole that the tooth came out of got infected followed by another sleepless night http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif I had a really horrible time with my teeth but touch wood all is good, I still have faith in my dentist even after all that......... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif DJ Frankie Knuckles. Gary 0
QUOTE (Andy Westcott @ Jan 8 2006, 07:31 PM) OK guys, I had a back tooth drilled on my birthday, Jan 6th. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif What time was your appointment? Tooth Hurty, by any chance...? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif Try to claim the receipt on next years tax assessment as "On-stage presentation" (you've gotta smile on-stage, havent you....). The Inland rev didn't let me claim dentist receipts, but then, they never seem to play each year with the same rules...so, you might be lucky.
Jimbo55 0
My dentist is an excellent one. Apart from the vibration of the drill, the only thing that hurts is the bills. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif Nearly forgot..... when my daughter was 6 (now 23). She was having a checkup and she bit him. His nurse (his wife) laughed her socks off. Jimbo Digital Fusion Entertainments Bose L1 system user.

Andy Westcott 0
Paula, you are strange. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Quote from Chris: "Since i'm the biggest Dental Phobic around...." Wrong mate, you haven't seen me in the chair..... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif Anyhow, the latest update: I am having tooth pain, but I'm now pretty sure it's coming from the molar in front which was root filled a few years ago. The pain obviously isn't coming from the tooth itself as it has no nerve now and is quite dead, but it's coming from the 'meat' surrounding the roots, as this took some time to settle down originally following the huge abcess I had there. I think that little clamp the dentist uses to wedge the teeth apart when they fill it has disturbed things and the tooth is sitting a little higher due to infammation around the roots, as subsequently I'm hitting it every time I chew. (Which is quite a lot these days!) So generally speaking, nothing to panic about yet, the tooth in question still seems to be alive with no indications of the tremendous pain which is no doubt ahead somewhere. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif Gary, nice suggestion about putting the dentist bill against your profits! I ought to have some caps put on my two upper front teeth, as in my early 20s I had both root filled and they have now become discoloured. Doesn't look all that nice, as it looks like I don't clean my teeth, which I do! I reckon as cosmetic dentistry, It might be worth a try.
