Paul Smith 0
Just in case you thought that DJU Interviews only apply if you've been in the business for years with 100's of gigs under your belt next up is one of our younger members......... 1. What is your DJU Forum Alias? DJ Ben 2. What is your Real Name, Age, Location & Marital Status? Ben Nicholson, 15, Middx, Long-term relationship 3. What is the Name of your Disco? BND DISCOS 4. How long have you been a DJ? 1 year give or take - roadie for about 2 years prior to that 5. What inspired you to become a DJ Older mates 6. Are you a member of a DJ Association / Union? ONLY DJU!!!! 7. What is your favourite type of function now? (eg: Wedding, 18th Birthday party, etc) erm.... anything that I enjoy and i get money from! 8. What’s the worst/most embarrassing thing you've done in front of an audience? jumped up and down to a song (when roadie-ing) and skipped the cd 9. If you could go back to the beginning of your DJ career is there anything that you'd do differently? (eg: The gear that you bought, the way you promoted/advertised yourself) wait until i could afford something slightly more powerful (amp and speakers) 10. What do you feel you offer the public that convinces them to book you rather than "the next guy/girl"? I am friendly, I dress sharply, and am a good 'people person' 11. Have you ever bought something for your show that you wish you hadn't? and why? Rotating police light - rubbish. makes too much noise, and sheds out virtually NO light! 12. What's your next DJ purchase likely to be? More lighting! and CD's 13. If you could get someone to invent a new piece of disco equipment for your show, what would it be? self carrying equipment! 14. What was the worst equipment failure suffered during a gig? Never had one http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif 15. What do you think is the best thing about DJ'ing? The music and the power you feel over people. Making them dance and feel good is great. 16. What do you think is the worst thing about DJ'ing? When people complain about ONE SONG WHICH THEY KNOW WILL BE OVER IN LESS THAN 2 MINS 17. What would make you stop DJ'ing (if anything)? If my gear got nicked http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif but that would only be until i got new stuff on the insurance! 18. How do you think DJ'ing will change, in the next 5 years? Hopefully equipment will get lighter and more compact, and CD's will be cheaper! 19. Most stupid thing anyone's ever said to you at a gig? "I didn't mean to throw that grape at you, It was aimed at the other guy" WHY BOTHER THROWING ONE AT ALL! YOU'RE PEED OUTTA YOUR BRAINS! 20. Best advice you were ever given by a fellow DJ? He taught me how to read the dance-floor 21. And worst advice you were ever given? Play extra songs at the end after it has finished 22. How do you keep up to date with music? (eg Promo monthly CDs, Downloads, Purchase from retailer) iTunes and HMV! (eBay is pretty good aswell!) I get pre-release and promo CD's off a mate who is a radio presenter 23. Name 3 songs that 95% of the time will fill the dance floor for you! Come back to me on that one - I try not to play songs that will clear the dance-floor in the first place! 24. Mode of transportation. My mum and Dad! 25. Gary 0
QUOTE (5star @ Jan 15 2006, 01:01 AM) 11. Have you ever bought something for your show that you wish you hadn't? and why? Rotating police light - rubbish. makes too much noise, and sheds out virtually NO light! If you take off the weatherproof perspex cover with the word POLICE on it, and snip the red wire to the two-tone siren, the whole effect will then run almost silently... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Great interview ! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif Continue to enjoy DJsUnited ! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/headphone.gif
