Typical songs for various genres

Recommended Posts

For a bit of help on something I'm working on, I'm trying to compile a list of typical songs for various genres. or songs that typify an era

ie. any song that springs to mind if someone mentions a specific genre

eg if someone says disco I think of Bee Gees - Staying alive or Donna Summer - I feel love. Sixties & I think of Whiter shade of pale or Mr tambourine man etc..

I want to know what you imediatly think of song wise when you think of the following eras:

50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's

& genres:

Soul, Funk, Punk, Rock 'n' Roll, Indie, Dance (I know this one is pretty vague but..), Reggae, Ska, Rock, Heavy Metal, Country, Folk, Cheese, New Romantic, Mod, Rap/Hip Hop, House, New Wave, Easy Listening/Lounge, Garage (for this purpose I mean modern garage & not the 60's/70's garage rock/punk), R&B, R 'n' B & Big Band/Swing.

I know what I think of for all of these but I need more input for this project. The more catigories you can answer the better, but if only certain ones bring something to mind then that will do.

Thanks
