I tried unbalanced lead from my mixer (behringer 802) into channels 3 + 4 and loaded my mics into 1 + 2. Seemed to work fine but to save me reinventing the wheel what have you found to be best for corporate type functions?

Andy, I run all of my inputs (laptop, mp3 player, microphones) into my little balanced mixer and then run balanced outputs into channels 3 & 4 on the PAS. I haven't yet needed to run the PAS at more than 40% and I seldom run my mixer at more than 75%. A single PAS puts out a sound that easily puts to shame a comparably-priced pair of Mackies, without any apparant effort. It's very cool.

BTY,

With all this talk of 8, 10 or 20 units maybe being sold over there, you'd think Bose might like to send me a free demo CD, T-shirt or hat to go with my own PAS, huh? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Richard

Reason I went UNBALANCED into 3 + 4 is that in UK only 1 + 2 on the PAS are balanced and 3 + 4 only offer UNBALANCED.

Given what you say will feed all my inputs (including mics) into my behringer 802 and feed out BALANCED into channels 1 + 2.

Thanks for your response

Andy

I spoke to Bose earlier today. I was quoted £1199 ( inc. vat ) for the tower only and £1621 all in for the tower and 2 subs. I was told the tower alone is not sufficient for DJ work and the 2 subs are essential.

Yep. This is for the tower and no subs. I wasn't recommending that version, only using that version as an example of the (now small) price difference between the UK and the US, as BigBen had also used that same unit in his calculations from Dollars to Pounds.

UK list prices are as follows:

Basic (ie no sub) package: £1,199

(This unit only has a response down to around 100Hz, so is not a full range speaker, and will need a sub of some kind for disco use.)

Single sub package: £1,410

Double sub package: £1,621

Addional B1 Sub: £211

(Each PAS can drive up to 2 B1 subs)

Does the system including any form of casing?, or is that going to be another £XXX ? I don't think I would trust something of this price, rolling around in the back of the van! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif

Apparantly the transportation case sold by Bose is an SKB gun case which has inserts pre-cut to fit two PAS L1 column halves inside. I saw one at the Mobile Beat show in Las Vegas and it is smart. It retails for rather a lot more than when you buy it as a gun case from SKB directly from what I've heard.
