I am a reg customer of one of the UK suppliers .... ahem (supposed suppliers) but they have not put the arrival date back to may.................... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif

This is ridiculous...... Every month they are putting a little piece on their website saying due November 05 then Due Jan 06 and so on....

Am starting to get frustrated with this..... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif

Have been trying to ring the supplier all morning, and guess what, no reply...

tut tut tut ........

Anyone else had this with this particular mic???

Has anyone else got it...? If so where from?

Have you tried that Thoman (Germany) place?

It might be that Behringer are doing a staggered launch - eg: Available in some countries before others.

Don't get down on the suppliers for this, it's most likely that they are only going on information from Behringer. If Behringer keep on putting the release date back they can only go so far as to update their website as soon as possible with the new date.

They're not going to issue a statement saying 'Behringer's mucking us about - sorry!' are they (at least not if they want to remain suppliers)

Splosh,

You may want to check the frequency range of the Behringer mic.

I believe that it doesn't operate on within the UK Licence exempt band of 863MHz – 865MHz. Therefore you would need a licence to use it in the UK.

It is partly due to the fact that the UK and Ireland use the radio spectrum in a different way to Europe. Years ago the UK had a more favourable radio situation than most of Europe. It was easier to be a Short Wave Listener, a Ham Radio operator on many bands, a CBer, etc than in most countries of Europe.

The EU has liberalised things and the UK is now lagging behind in scope of use. This is sad. In fact the whole DAB thing shows what the UK could be capable of in the 70s and 80s in terms of radio tech. UK DAB is far ahead of most other countries.

The second UK-specific issue is the way that the distributors and shops don't practice an open market in the UK. In continental Europe it is far less common to have dealers complaining about price reduction. That's business, that's the way it happens. In the UK you always have one shop or other moaning about some other shop 1/10th their size selling something for 1p cheaper. It's noted for it.

Thirdly , some of the radio microphones coming out of China are not reliable. Behringer has pretty stringent QC. All these issues have conspired to delay the introduction. According to my German friends in the know.

Just give up and invest a little extra in the excellent JTS US 901DA http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif

Brilliant kit for less than £200.

Have you personal experience of this? It looks interesting.

What is their warranty policy like compared to Shure and Behringer?

It looks interesting, but there are a lot of dodgy microphones out there at the moment. I am not going to single any one brand out, but round up the usual suspects.....

Yes and no... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif

I have heard, seen, felt the JTS mic at a dealership and I believe it offers excellent value for money, but I haven't used it on the road personnally.

A friend of mine has 4 of these (you can buy a rackmount kit and 19" antenna pack to go with them for flightcasing) which he uses for confrence work and the like, he says they are excellent in terms of their sound quality and reliability.

Is it as good as something like an SM58?

Not quite, but then you are getting a "frequency agile" UHF system which give you loads more flexibility for the same price as a Shure fixed VHF system.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about their warranty, they may have more detail on their website.

Yep you must make sure any imported microphones comply frequency-wise, whether they're license-free or otherwise. VHF and UHF are only allowed certain frequencies in the UK which are not the same on the continent so you're better getting a radiomic from a UK retailer unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Behringer are certainly having some continuity of supply at the moment, worldwide not locally. It applies to many Behringer products. Ive recently lost a customer after he got fed up of waiting for an item i'd ordered which was out of stock.

I have one of these, lovely mic, well built, great range, and it's not a ebay toy. Marky Marc also uses a similar JTS mic.

Steve thanks for your reply. It was honest and not axe-grinding.

I have been holding out for the Behringer product myself before I buy a couple of more radio microphones, because of Behringer's sound quality, build quality and warranty excellence.

However the mike you highlighted also looks interesting because it is both cheap and frequency-agile as you say.

Now, I'm not sure, with the greatest of respect to you and your friend that I would treat conference-work as a suitable test for the way we use the microphone.

Brian, care to enlarge a bit more?

BTW, the reason why Behringer have supply probz is cos the quality of Chinese goods is declining a bit because of the labour and materials shortages there. Behringer pull goods that do not meet QC. Would that DJ CD player manufacturers did likewise... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif
