Gary 0
I've seen that vid before somewhere...I think it was here on DJU, suspiciously enough, Nov/Dec time. There seems to be around 16 unique channels of lighting on the house and the cone tree thing (to the right). The ground-based illuminated figures (just right-of-centre) are sneaky...they look like they're standing in 4 or 5 rows of snowmen (or something) with 1 snowman on the back row, 2 in the row infront of him, 4 in the row in front, 5 or 6 in the front row etc... 1 lighting channel needed for each row...however...then the little figures light up from left to right in columns, suggesting that they're either matrixed (never could get my head around matrixed lighting) or each figure has its own lighting channel, so...if you want to light 15 little illuminated figures (row of 5, row of 4, row of 3, row of 2, row of 1), you'd need 15 channels. So...with the rough numbers above, theres about 30 unique channels of lighting - some of which have dimming features on them. Therefore...you'd need 30 channels of DMX dimmer packs, and a DMX controller (in addition to the raw Christmas lighting). A 4 channel Soundlab DMX dimmer pack costs about £50....so....8 of these would give you 32 channels of dimable DMX, for your £400 budget. (thats 2 channels spare for a snow machine etc http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif ) Other pricing/budget considerations include: The DMX controller itself. The speakers/amp in garden so that passers by actually realise that its all running to music, not just flashing inainly. Leads, connectors, several days of "ladderwork", and a few £thousand in legal fees when the jealous neighbours start to sue for sleepless nights due to the 24 hour amplified music etc... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/snow_grin.gif

analyst 0
The house belongs to Carson Williams of Mason, Ohio, who used 88 Light-O-Rama channels to control his 16,000 christmas lights. Reputedly every light is synchronized by computer and timed to the musical beat to a tenth of a second. Cost over $28,000. Apparently when it hit the news the neighbourhood became so congested, and the police couldn't even get to an an accident it caused, Carson Williams shut it down out of respect for his neighbours. He did get an offer for a Miller Lite beer commercial which was made out of it. But now, they're all at it QUOTE (madpup @ Mar 9 2006, 04:27 PM)the insane neighbour wants to help, so we have it in both gardens (semi detached) Ah so its neighbours getting in on the act. Try this one with four houses connected in one street Edited March 9, 2006 by Gary <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
