bluejools 0
Came across it last night. Found a dead spot on one of my active speakers on the volume control...... Only on turn on and off moving from zero volume - give large, blowing speaker pop Now part of me says " why not have a look.... maybe swap the volume rotary with the treble one if they are the same" after all i dont use the on speaker tone controls My sensible side says GET IT SERVICED... its critical So..... to look or not to look

robbiedj 0
I'd have a look, just to check if it is something simple. If not, get it serviced. You can't cross your fingers and hope. Andy Westcott 0
Almost certainly a problem with the pot., and as these are pretty much 'no user servicable parts inside', replace it. Swapping it for the treble contol might cause problems elsewhere eventually - get it replaced. I'd do it myself, assuming I could order the correct value and physical size. High Fidelity 0
Being a capable electronics engineer I'd probably fix it myself. 9 times out of ten, the hardest part is getting the equipment apart. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif Edited March 12, 2006 by High Fidelity Quitting Smoking & Drinking doesn't make you live longer It just feels like it. nrgize 0
I have always opened it up and had a quick look inside it. If I can see what the fault is I will take to a Qualified engineer and ask for this particular part to be fixed. Avoiding work not need doing being done!! wizard 0
My problem is getting it back together after taking it apart http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/cool.gif always seem to have a few bits left over http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif Usually manage to fix most things myself The oldest swinger in town....... probably. highslayer 0
If its a PC then no problem, but anything else I take apart either breaks, or has bits left over once I've finished, or err - 'looks' different!
Nedd 0
I like to "have a go" - but if I'm honest I usually make things worse!
ChrisPointon 0
Most of the bits I have left over, end up in a bag as spares!. After all, if the thing works okay with the bits left off, then it must have been over-engineered in the first place! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif

So, since Carlsbro applied the "take to service centre" route.. I now really want a look Dont think i can swap the Pots (treble and volume) as the treble has a centring point and 12 o clock. Andy, where is a good source of POTS (better than maplin) ? After all, i am not too bad with a soldering iron, power driver, chisel, sledgehammer, decorators filler.... so should be a doddle!!!! RichardP 0
For your pots you could also try RS or Farnell or maybe CPC. Happy hunting. <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
