Jimbo55 0
Attended a friends 50th birthday as a guest on Friday. Disco/Karaoke Saturday night. Second event there. The landlady wants me to visit in the week with my diary to make the bookings a regular thing. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Sunday SEDA AGM. Met with a few of the guys from the Forum. Played with a few new Dennon toys and bought a second hand lighting effect. Got loads of idea's from the conversations. The update on the Digital Licence was interesting, no doubt there will be an upadte on the SEDA web page. Jimbo Digital Fusion Entertainments Bose L1 system user.

Jimbo Jim, I think the updates will be on This website as they happen. There are links to this on the SEDA pages. Leonna, looks good. Glad you enjoyed it, it makes all the difference when you enjoy the job. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif I did a wedding last night in a tiny venue to 40 guests. They danced from the first to the last dance, and sang until I finished packing up and left http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif Used a really minimal setup! http://www.dancemix.co.uk/images/5572.jpg
RichardP 0
Nice looking compact setup, Brian. How did you manage to keep everything from sliding off, what with that 45° angle of the room? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
alicat 0
Well I had a double girls 18th birthday party Saturday night and it rocked from 8-12. They were even dancing on the tables where the buffet had been!!!. One girl was a indie/punk fan and the other a club/dance fan! Pleased them all with my sets and one of the girls' mother said I was the best they had ever had http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/beer.gif . That's better than getting paid http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Kingy 0
I did my first 18th on Friday since the year dot. I usually avoid them like the plague, however, as this was at one of my regular golf clubs i did it. What a shock!! Dance floor full from 7.45 till 12!!! Took another booking on the back of it. Saturday: The most boring 40th wedding anniversary in the world. No one was interested at all!! Played Grandmaster swing as warm up, then played some ballroom (as requested) with no one dancing, finally cracked the dance floor with "you're my best friend" for the happy couple, followed by The Anniversary waltz, couple of the usual suspects. In bed by 7 minutes past 12!! Took a booking on the back of that one too though, so you just never know!!
Gary 0
Friday - Squadie Wedding. Might have to add "no squady weddings" to my T&C's (in a nicely worded way). First record was delayed several times at the Brides request as, her baby was crying. Those with a skill for fighting, used it rather than their brains, to solve any trivial disagreement - an "instinct" worsened by beer perhaps - when the fighting machine is running on beer as fuel - the whole night loses finese somewhat. Few requests - and they just didn't seem bothered by anything other than the bar - Bride and Groom wanted nothing that their guests wanted music wise. Those guests making requests were asking for 70's,80's etc... B&G kept clearing the floor with their requests of "Can you take this off and put on clubby dancy music.". After the 2nd floor clearance, and no bride and groom bothering to dance to their requests, I explained on their 3rd re-request of floor clearing clubby tunes that I was more than happy to play their requests for them, but were they aware that their guest wanted other styles and eras of music. "Oh, jus' keep playing the clubby stuff for us then..." came the reply. Saturday - Wedding. Ah...a blissful wedding, as it should be - lots of dancing bods, loads of ruquests and the funny point of the evening was the Sharon and Tracy pair coming up asking for more R'n'B and couldnt name a single artist, or title...I suggested "Scandalous" and "Dirrrrrty" and they took it. Sunday - SEDA do... Great fun as usual, Loads of conversations with loads of people. Sold the last of the LED moving message signs (for the moment), and a couple of 2nd hand lights. Took smaller speakers with me this time for more close-range 1-to-1 demos etc, and it worked alot better -So, will be investing in a few powered PC speakers me thinks - just for SEDA do's. Best bit...the twins forgot all about Chaz'n'Dave this time, so a nice peaceful 90 min drive home.

Since I upgraded my PC speakers to a set of JBL Control 1's driven off a 170W Samson amp, I have a spare set of 5000000000MW pc speakers. If I remember, I'll take them next time. FDDJ 0
Yep. Although it was a little longer than it looks in the picture that is as wide as it gets due to the pillars you see running throughout the room! The room is the Old Library Bar @ Wotton House, Dorking.
