short skirt high heels 0
Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Personally I have embraced downloading and think it is for the better. They don't show Thunderbird 2 reverse parking as it doesn't make good television.

BigBen 0
QUOTE (DJ Ben @ Apr 2 2006, 08:35 PM) It is only Number one on dowloads, cos it's not out on CD/12" until 10th April I think Almost correct - cd single released tomorrow. Although I don't fully embrace the idea, it's just progress. People downloading songs are still customers paying for music even though they don't have a tangible copy...they could burn one though, if their license allows them to. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/amen.gif [insert quirky comment]
RobbieD 0
Unfortunately this could mean that the majority of singles will start coming out on download before CD release, and eventually the death of the CD single. Great for those that are happy with 192Kbps files as their music source, but not so good for those of us who want to play up to date music in it's highest quality form. For me, I purchased Crazy as a download and burnt to CD, as that has been the only way to get hold of it for the past few weeks. But now that the single is out I need to purchase it again, unless I'm happy to never hear it in better than 192Kbps quality. (Of course once wav file downloads become commonly available, this won't be an issue. But this may not happen if the general public are happy with with 192Kbps and lower.) RichardP 0
It might be possible that the shop-bought single format is threatened, but : It got me thinking this morning... and okay I haven't thought this through entirely, but how do young teenagers buy music on download? Don't you need a credit/card in order to pay for them? If so, isn't the minimum age 16 for that? Does that mean Mum & Dad are giving up details of their plastic to online music services on behalf of their kids (with or without their knowledge) ? <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>

Especially considering that the majority of CD single buyers are teenagers.
mick 0
I know how my teenage daughter gets her i-tunes, on my credit account http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/014.gif
djwynn 0
There is a new way teenagers can buy digital music downloads. This is by buying top up cards just like the original pay as you talk mobile phones had. They are availiable in denominations of £15 or £25 and are availiable from places such as dixons, woolworths, whsmith. for more info see ITUNES PRE PAYMENT CARDS or NAPSTER CARDS
wizard 0
I hotfooted down to my local record store to get the CD single today.............only to find.........SOLD OUT..... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/014.gif after only 3 hours, 50 copies. they claimed it was the biggest demand for a single since that Elton john Diana tribute. Oh well will have to stick to my Tesco downloaded version. BTW does anyone else think the tracks downloaded from Tesco's are low volume when burnt to Cd. It is annoying having to up the db level before burning. The oldest swinger in town....... probably. Happy Easter.. well I have seen easter eggs in the shops
