robbiedj 0
Saturday double birthday at the usual venue. Slightly different as a rock band was playing from 8-30 to 10 then we started. Band are fairly new to the scene and were mostly punk/ metal/ chart rock. Didn't go down to well with the regulars who kept asking when we were on. I think it was the wrong sound for the venue. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif Started up at 10 and played virtually pure cheese to a packed floor until 1-30. Even managed to keep the band's followers dancing and, having taken their gear home (local) they came back too. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Away at 2-15 leaving a very happy landlady and a number of the visiting crowd vowing to be back in 3 weeks for our next show. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif Apparently we were "fantastic" ............................ FDDJ 0
Had fun last night, 40th Birthday @ a local Golf Club. RobbieD 0
Totally exhausted after this weekend - mainly due to lack of sleep. Saturday was straight forward, but as Brian and Steve have given away, Sunday in a big blue box in Croydon was rather more involved. With the help of Pete (aka Musicbox), we spent over two hours setting up my normal system, plus additional lighting above the dancefloor (making a total of 11 DMX effects), remote delay fill in speakers to cover a potential 700-800 strong crowd, additional speakers and basic lighting for a small stage off to one side, plus also supplied two mirror balls with colour changer spots, and several par cans for mood lighting around the venue. A great night with a busy dance floor and some nice eye candy. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif It then took us over 2 hours to de-rig, and I eventually got to sleep at 5am on Monday morning. But with children around, sleeping late the next day was not an option! I can't thank Pete enough for his assistance. He is a great guy, and very hard working. And thanks also to Steve Jam for passing the work my way.
Leonna 0
Saturday - 2 birthdays and 4 hen nights and 1 stag night. Reasonably good crowd down at the G.P. until last half hour. Dancing on tables is activley encouraged by manager. Unfortunatley some young lads were doing said activity on a table which had recently been vacated leaving lots of bottles, glasses and jugs on. the table started jiggling about (large round piece of wood laid ontop of smaller table) a few glasses fell off and smashed. I tried to attract the attention of some of the staff - no luck - left DJ booth to try and track someone - no luck. Song finished boys got off. I still put a call out asking for manager to come to the DJ booth to get the stuff cleared - no luck. Someone asked for Predict a Riot and I foolishly put it on (hindsight is a wonderful thing) and the aformentioned boys got back on table and were jumping away - needless to say nearly everything on the table was now smashed on the floor. In the end I felt I had no option but to turn the music right down and ask for someone to come and clear the mess (this was right by the dance floor) before someone hurt themselves. The staff came and cleared it all away with great efficiency. I put something slightly less hyper on and tried to keep it up beat but not quite so riotous for the last half hour. There were cheers of one more at the end so I played Insomnia and made sure I packed up sharpish at the end of that or I would never have got away. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif I might not have taken the right action but I don't think I am in a position to go and tell two blokes to get off the table when I can see damage and destuction waiting to happen. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif
