Just wondering what program you guys use to catalogue all your tracks - think its about time i did one - been meaning to do it for a few years now!

I know if you use excel then you can search etc but is there a program which i can just stick a cd in and it will know what it is - like on winamp - then i can copy the list into excell?

Thanks

Steve

I use excel, but I have column's for;

Artist:

Title:

Age:

BPM:

Type:

Disc number:

track:

Content:

but at the top of each column, I use a drop down menu that has *what ever it is in the column*(eg,title) in alphabetical order, so I can search it that way, or searching by *cheeky* and cheeky girl's come's up-LOL (Paula's fav group) http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thumbup.gif

Hope this help's http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I have built an MS Access database with 2 different tables, one containing a list of CDs and the other one containing all the tracks with a field that cross-references with the other table. I can then generate reports from that, like a list of tracks sorted by artist, by title or by CD. What I've done is printed out the list by artist and put it in a folder so I have like a "karaoke book" so if somebody asks me if I have anything by a certain artist, I can look it up there and then. The only trouble with this is the paper version become out of date very quickly as I buy new CDs almost every week.

Thanks for the help guys - those of you using excell/access did u manually input all the data?

Yes, it took age's for me to do it, as I am so slow at typing, but it's worth it at the end, so much easier.

Happy typing http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Dynamite,

Don't start typing all your entries it will take for ever and slaughter your wrists/hands http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wacko.gif

There are much easier ways. This subject has come up a few times previously, check the following links for past input on this subject:
