High Fidelity 0
QUOTE (iany @ May 8 2006, 10:49 PM) Bose PAS are for people who need to make up for something in the trouser department. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif Maybe I'd better get me some. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif I voted that I'm OK with mine at the moment for the gigs I do. Biggest problem for me is finding something as good as my EV's, but powered & at a price I can afford Quitting Smoking & Drinking doesn't make you live longer It just feels like it. ian . 0
I think personally, there exists a form of 'one-up-manship, or snobbery' where speakers are concerned. The same can be said of amps as well, and maybe even mics. What does everyone think? Soundlab Vs Bose PAS? £200 Vs £2000? Fiesta Vs a Lexus? Will the Bose PAS be the new Mackies on the secondhand market soon? Hmmmm....... <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
pareshj 0
I voted No. I'm with Brian on this, the PAS gives me the flexibilkity to work in small and large venues and in the last few gigs that I've had, more people have come up to me on the PAS than in the last 3 years with the HK Lucas 1000 system which is up for sale soon. However for portability the Lucas wins, for me, the PAS - takes a few minutes longer to setup - 2 double systems take a little more space in the van than I expected - wires and connecting it can be a mess Josh www.djspacebar.com

Disco24-7 0
I've slowly built up my collection of M series JBL speakers over the last 12 months, they weigh a ton, however, they sound fantastic. Basically, if you've got the strength, go for JBL, Turbosound etc. There've been quite a few posts over the last ...2 months about amp and speaker combinations, on top of the usual questions (we love'em) about "What wattage? What Amp?, What RMS?" etc,etc... However, sometimes the question of "What shall I buy?" isnt always preceded with the question of "Do I need to buy...?". This poll is a simple take-a-step-back exercise, but may also -anonymously- help other DJU members and DJU retailers to see whether a "Speaker promotion" or "speaker group buy" is on the cards. Welsh Audio Man 21 0
Reading back at my post on this thread, back a few months ago, i couldn't have been all that happy, as my Ohm rig i sold, am also selling my Alto's. Still unsure of the RMS wattage of the Yamahas, so they remain in the lock-up, un-used. Now own a pair of Warrior L300 12" speakers (even though i never thought i would buy 12s) Also looking for a pair of passive DB Operas... Think ive just got fed up of lugging heavy wooden cabinets to the smallest of gigs. Investing in a pair of 12s and 15, moulded speakers, seems more economical, and a great back saver! Steve_Mitchell 0
After posting in May saying I was very happy with my Mackie`s they are now my spare set of cabs as I now have 2 x L1`s and 4 x B1`s Bose. Steve 5 European cups and 18 leagues, that`s what we call history.
shakermaker 0
My speakers are ok for me. I use active speakers. I have a pair of Gemini GX450's which are ideal for smaller venues. If I need a bit extra then I link (or use the booth/monitor output on the mixer) my DB 400's too. I just make the GX's a bit more bassy with the onboard equalizer and away I go. I also use the DB's for vocal pa's too as they are ideal, infact both sets are, either using them seperately or togeather. Obviously I want some big hefty speakers too and will be looking after christmas. The missus doesn't understand why I need them when I am getting along fine at the moment but I think it's better to have plenty of volume there available even if you don't end up using it. I know active speakers aren't everyone's cup of tea but I really like them. Shakermaker Promotions Indie / Rock & Alternative Specialist (But I can cater for everything else too). djn 0
Lightness is my big thing as I have a bad back, from my reserch a pair of jbl eon1500's would be my ideal upgrade but I have yet to hear them. Trouble is I find shop demos of speakers next to useless as its so unrealistic so I'll wait untill I come across some used in a venue or maybe at a show. dj
