woogie_theking 0
Hiya, just got a call a few days ago from the young farmers, i do alot of there gigs every year but this is the biggest yet. I can usually do upto about 300 poeple, but with 700 im just goning to hire the whole sound system in. They understand about all of this and are going to pay my usual rate plus the hire costs. Any ideas what kind of system i should be looking for? its in a marque aswell. Also hire companys? i rang a few and got quotes from £200 for a 1.5k ev rig (i think the guy trying to hire me this was having a laugh) upto £1500 for a 10k MA rig any advice appreciated Damo

Kingy 0
Depends how big a rig you want. I may be able to help, depending on dates. PM me details over for a "free quote"!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif I can offer you a double HK ACTOR system which will easily cope with 700. This would give you 8 x 15" bass drivers and 4x 12" tops with horns. (and some monitoring if you wish!)
DJ Marky Marc 0
also for large PA hire try Sabre Ask for Paul or David but like I said on the other forum 5 - 10 kw of sound depending on the layout of the barn.. And watch the power requirements http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
Dukesy 0
I think you'll need 18' bass if you're in the marquee i.e. no 'walls' for the bass to 'bounce off'! What is the system you usually run for the 300 in the audience? (Amp, speakers, etc)

Welsh Audio Man 21 0
700 people...... your gna need about 8k i would say, with plenty of Bass, 18' s, as was mentioned by another member! Marquee..... make sure you have enough power without having to drive anything too hard! As i say, 8k should do you, ive done approx 1000 people on 8.5k! Don't forget to make sure your covered for power outletts too! ie. generators!
DJ_Ajay 0
mmm a big sound system.... i would def look at systems with atlest 4x18inch Bass drivers... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.curlysbar.com.au/
Kingy 0
I don't think 18" speakers will be any better in a marquee than 15". Wern't when i tried it anyhow! I am always willing to learn though..... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif
DJ_Ajay 0
18inchs can handle more power, but heres a tip for a sub of any size, sit them aganist a wall. Subs shoot just as much force out the back of the bin as the front. Sitting them aganist a wall will allow that lost force to be revrbarted back at the audiance. Hope that makes sense...... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif http://www.curlysbar.com.au/
