martink 0
Hi all, Got a wedding comng up saturaday and the chap wants a bit of Brand new heavies, Young Dicsiples etc. While I have tons of this on vinyl (infact probably enough scattered across my Cds too)I don't want to take decks along. Anyone got a couple of definative albums they use? Don't really need the more obscure out there stuff, just the more soulful bits. Still, probably should just get a burner and dig out the vinyl! Thanks, Martin
Eskie 0
There are thousands of Acid-Jazz compilations around. Some of the best are the 'Totally Wired' series which was released on the Acid-Jazz label. I'm pretty sure that there is a Best Of Totally Wired available. The Talkin Loud label also did some good comps and there is a vol 1, 2 & 3 of best of Talkin Loud. One other label that did good acid-jazz comps is Giant. martink 0
Thanks Eskie, I'll go and have a look search for the "best of totally Wired". If remember rightly a lot of the totally wired albums was a bit too jazzy. The talkin loud comps may be a tad more what I'm after. I think I'm gonna give the man what he asked for Disciples, Heaves Jk etc and sling in lots of jazz funk, rare groove and 80s soul, As far a punters go I well happy, he's specifically requested no cheese or for me to keep it to a minimum ifrequested. May try and get to one of your nights soon (I'm in Ealing).
Eskie 0
Hi Martin, It sounds like a superb wedding to me! You're right in that the 'Wired' series was a bit jazzier and more obscure. The Talkin Loud series featured artists like Incognito, Young Disciples, Galliano, Omar, etc. Go onto Amazon and type in 'acid jazz' into the search box, that will bring up some of the more commercial comps. Hope to see you one night. Tone Anthony Winyard Entertainment www.awe-dj.co.uk, Entertaining London & the South-East!
