Had a good night on Saturday night at The plough in Leatherhead, 60th Birthday played mainly 60s sorry not able to get Deelite played maybe next time. Did play the Tony Christie's latest version for England and went down a storm knew it would played some club versions of things like My heart will go on and The greatest love of all then it was requested to finish with I perdict a riot, which cleared the floor so finally finished with Pin Ball wizard full floor to finish with. After backing up. finished the evening by meeting Mr. Brian Mole and John and going for a coffee in the local petrol station, thanx for the coffee Brain great to chill out after a gig etc.

Friday was a wedding about 25 miles away, hotel I do a lot of work at, was booked all day, arrived at 10am for the ceremony, then disco started at about 8pm, usual wedding stuff. Finished at 12.30am.

Saturday was another wedding about 100 miles away, took nearly 3 hours to get there, in a marquee in the grounds of a big country house, shame it rained. Very posh do with over 250 people there. Had a great chat with a few pwople who did some intresting 'jobs' including the Lighting Director for Kylie and Take That's tours !

I think I impressed him with my Chameleons http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Arrived at 2pm, as they needed microphones for the speeches, started playing aroubd 9pm with back ground music, first dance was at 9.45pm, fireworks at 10.30pm, after which the bride and groom left, finished officially at 11.30pm, but carried on until 12 midnight. Home by 5am.

Sunday was a posh wedding show, I did the PA, also the cakes, favours, fountains and chair covers, downside was the rehersal for the timings of the fashion show were at 8.30am, and the venue is an hours drive away, so very little sleep.

Still nothing on Sunday evening, exceopt feet up and Top Gear, until my wife invited friends around http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif

Just finished getting ready for a quiz tonight now, and a cuppa tea is next..... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif

.....but what do I know ?

Well, Friday was fairly sain - A nice straight-forward 40th Birthday.

Saturday...well, this got interesting. Arrived at the venue, which had 2 function rooms and a massive "Garden room" style conservatory/restaurant - this last location being where I was booked to play to the restaurant go-ers. While I was setting up, a guy in a morning suit (best man?) came up to me and asked me if my disco name was - some unheard of name that I'd never heard of. I advised him that I wasn't and he headed off. I also picked up hints (raised voices, accelerated gaits etc) of various other flustered members of the wedding party, from one of the other rooms over the next half hour or so too.

I'd finished setting up, and set up a couple of discs to Relay Play, ready for me to go and get changed, even though I had about 45 mins before the restaurant section was due to open. Up walks the familiar face of the duty manager, and the distressed face of the bride and the groom, with a shared question: Would I mind doing their wedding disco for them instead of the restaurant function? Their disco hadnt turned up and was claiming that they'd had an equipment failure and (also?)lost all their music.

Restaurant do? or wedding reception? Easy choice for me - put a copy of my usual wedding information sheet into the bride and grooms hands, asked them their first record (Again - by Jennifer Lopez - thankfully, they'd brought this with them on CD)...asked the B&G to let as many people know that I wasnt the original disco that let them down, but a different disco - rolled the gear through to the wedding function room, put on background music, got changed and a good night was enjoyed by all.

Phew! Heavy weekend....

Friday evening, dinner with friends till late - having been up since 5am for work I was a little tired.

Saturday: wedding at RAC club in Ashtead / Epsom. B&G asked for a really strange mixed bag of music a few weeks ago - 6 hours worth on 2 sheets of A4 http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif Seeing as we had 2.5 hours, this was interesting. It later transpired that B&G had asked their guests in advance for 2 requests and forwarded the lot to me! Good night, went in with minimal kit as we had to set up very quickly. Met up with Pete for a coffee after.

Sunday: 40th birthday party / 15th wedding anniversary at Amberley Castle. 50 americans came down from dinner at 10:30, danced till 12:00! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/patriot.gif Again a bit strange as I had no requests. Again set up a minimal kit - see pic below before the party started:

I was wondering, although I found using a PAS last weekend too bassy with two B1's attached (running mixer @ flat response) wouldnt you get better bass response from your 4 x B1's if you set them up in a 2 x 2 layout (where space permits)?

Quiet night on Saturday, only 1 hen night and a few birthdays, quite a few non-dancing tables. v hard work all night. Best songs of the night were Logical song, sandstorm etc. Towards the end lots of the youngsters filled the floor for lots of R&B. Played Groove is in the Heart. At first I thought oops! as most people then left the dance floor, but luckily twice as many then got up and danced http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Mixer still playing up, they got new headphones so I guess they thought they were the problem. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif

I don't know Gary. To be honest, in this config, the B1's stack up easily and provide a nice little request surface as well as providing loads of clean bass. If you have a room to try them in, you can always borrow & test http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif

Ooh! I forgot: Deee Lite - Groove is in the heart. Played at both gigs with full d/floor http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif
