they are not in the same league as someof the sound systems that members here use BUT they would be more than good enough for small discos..

It all depends on your budget and what type of discos you wish to do..

but if you manage to get them for the £25 starting bid then you can't go wrong http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Each of the 12" cabs come in trade at about £35-40 ish each + vat. The 10" is about £25. Thats brand new!!

I would neither purchase nor recommend them myself, however, ya pays ya money... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif

As allready said, they aint in the same league as the other members on here use, and you should always remember, that its your speakers that will determine your sound quality as a gig!

As budget speakers go, they aren't bad for smaller gigs, certainly i've seen (and heard) worse!. But get anything larger than a small village hall then you'll be struggling.

Sometimes it better not to rush into buying equipment with a limited budget, but to save up for a little bit longer and then get something a little bit better. The old adage "if a job is worth doing then its worth doing well" springs to mind http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif

These days, even an additional £100 spent on a pair of speakers will buy you a great deal more, and whilst it may take a few months or years to get to that additional budget its better than spending £50 on a pair of speakers only to find that you've made a mistake and that you need to replace them in a few months time and that your first purchase was basically a waste of money.

Remember that in this business, sound equipment is far more important than lighting, so make sure that the majority of your budget goes towards getting a decent sounding system before worrying about lighting effects etc.

Don't forget that if you are just starting out, then the most important thing is creating a good impression so that your clients will recommend you to others and you will eventually get more work from these recommendations!.

My own personal advice, is that you should perhaps be looking towards spending at least £150 for a pair of speakers - or second hand, rather than

I've listed some other suggestions below, although they will need a bit more investment.

Ohm RW5

Peavey Eurosys 2

Also take a look at Class D

Take a look at the recommendations above, plus some other cheaper makes too, Warrior, Skytec etc.

I brought some Skytec bass bins, 300w each as I needed something to stand my tops on, and the bins were just as cheap as speaker stands, only needed them for one gig, used them as sound re-inforcemnt to the main sound a few times now.

EdBray heard one of them a few weeks ago, and for the £40 I paid I am happy, but you get what you pay for.

.....but what do I know ?

Ah, trade price... all is clear, but makes you think, how much retailers are getting, selling them at £80-100 a pair!
