Anyone who gigs in or around Birmingham, have you ever been to Halesowen Conservative Club?!

We did a gig there late last year, which we thought was a total flop...nobody got up all night bar the odd visit to the buffet, and the atmosphere was none existant to the point where I was so shocked at their attitude I had a mind blank as to what to play!

At the time I vowed never to set foot in the place again!

Purely co-incidentally an agency phoned the other night, they were desperate for someone to do a 21st because the DJ doing it had dropped out for whatever reason, and we accepted 'cos the money was good! We thought the place might have changed...

...how wrong you can be!

setting up was no problem, and we came back at 7 ready to go. Our 'brief' was that the girl in question wanted a "typical" 21st party...wide mix of people, wide mix of songs etc. Fine.

Started the evening with current chart stuff, bit of older music etc, went down well. Buffet came and went, speeches came and went. So we started the night with Wham and put in the odd bit of dance and RnB...all was going well until the birthday girl came over and complained, saying she wanted just RnB for the rest of the night...with a stunned face, considering the original brief, i agreed, slightly concerned that as this was supposed to be a typical party I didn;t have THAT much RnB with me!

The table immediatley to the right of the stage heckled all night, she was blatently unhappy with the disco, so much so that one of her mates nicked a sign off the car...

PLUS DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE LIMITER! Why bother gigging when the sole reason her friends are there is to set the limiter off by behaving like pr:cense:s all night and stamping until it turned the power off!

ARGH! End of rant.

similar thing happened to me, back in november.... 21st birthday again, funnily enough... you do exactly what they ask, and they give you grief for it... thankfully the venue didn't have a sound limiter, but a few of the girls boyfriends decided to kick the s http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif t out of my speakers http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif ... at that point i said F http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif k em... i packed up and left....

Sent the mother of the girl who's birthday it was (mother booked me), a bill for the disco ( i left without full payment) and the invoice for a new Black widow driver and two new grills... within a week, i recieved a cheque with an appology letter, saying that she appologises for the behaviour, and that it was put down to the alcohol....

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/188.gif not all parties run nicely!!!
