Sounds like a great show for djs. I hope there are not any displays between mastermix and mixmash more appropriate on \'The Contender\'

Alas not this time. What with it being on the other side of the world and me having a major party on the Saturday night- the Turoa Mountain Mardi Gras. I'd really rather hang out with you guys than all of the dirty girls at the bar, but a job's a job right?

Does anybody know of a pub or cafe on the A61 between Sheffield and Burncross, preferably around Birley Carr.

I'm bringing the wife and her friend to meet a friend of theirs from Drontwich on the way to the show, and looking for somewhere to meet up by car while they transfer to their friends car.

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fright.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif Its a five hour trip each way in the van (including Via's) so, I'll be disabling the cassette and CD system in the Transit, specifically to avoid Chas'n'Dave or "Stuff from the 70's that no-ones played since (or then)" - in fact, if it wasnt for the fact that I listen to local radio stations to gradually condition myself to the accent changes as I move steadily "up Narf init", ("up North"), ("up norf"), ("u' nor'") ("Nuh") - I'd just take accidently leave the audio players front panel at home (whoops). http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'll try and keep you a Denon mug spare from my personal stash Robbie...might have a few others spare for any other DJU members who mention their DJU member name too... I dont use the mugs on the stand - as I tend to favour cans/bottles of chilled diet coke http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/pepsi.gif (hint hint) http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Thanks for the mugs, Gary! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif

And thank you, Richard (of Mastermix) for the Jive Bunny for our charity day next month. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Also Prolight for the free ice creams on a very hot day.

We enjoyed the day, despite my back aching and the 3 hour+ drive each way. Great to see some members of the forum for the 1st (2nd, 3rd etc) time. Played with lots of toys.................. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/oops.gif sorry, tried new kit. The cabaret was great, nrg put on a good show. Especially liked their mixes of You Can Call Me Al and Sweet Child Of Mine.

Even better than last year, but, Paul, can you find a way of cooling it down. It did get hot in there. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif Pity air-conditionong would mess up the smoke machines, we could have done with it today.

I'm in trouble now because I feel in love with a trailer. It would be great for shows like yesterday's Fun In The Park for the council. Just open it up and plug in and you could be playing in no time! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/cool.gif

Oh, Paul, next time can we have a few more signs on route and maybe a larger one at the venue. I actually pulled up outside and missed the small sign on the wall. Get the Lacey Green mob on-side and let them put up some like they had.

Apart from that, keep up the good work, it was great. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/goodjob.gif

Come on Gary, I'd love to know what you thought of it all. Many thanks to you and your team, you were the only exhibitors that actually cleared up after yourselves, and left your stand space as you found it. So respect due.

Of course he did.

The twins have to do something to repair the damage to Gary from their in-car music choices.

Seriously, Paul, I'm surprised there is so little feed back here with the DJU turn out on Sunday. Doesn't anybody want to comment?

Thanks Paul, nice to be noticed - Clearing up only seemed fair really, in fact at some exhibition venues its an absolute requirement - we were urged on also by the absolute tip left behind for your team to deal with, by one of the stands at the far end who appeared to have left you a bonfire style pile of cardboard boxes:- one match required...

The show was superb, in all the important respects eg: Visitor Turn-out, Power, Organisation, venue suitability, access to venue - and credit to your team for being VERY visible and very welcome "Sound Police", with the sound level metre etc, and providing us with earth to our metal stand within minutes of it being requested.

Talking of sound, the only noise that was "too loud" was the venues own sound system, when "through the day" announcements were made - but even these were acceptable as they (usually) only lasted 20 seconds tops, and were usually only a couple an hour anyway.

Next year (if/when) - assuming its a Sunday Show again - we'll aim at driving up on the Friday (prevents traffic jams from stealing set-up time on the Saturday), hotel it on the Friday night, spend all day Saturday setting up, hotel Saturday night, and literally just wander in all bright and breezy, switch on, on the exhibition day itself, do the exhibition, pack away and drive home on the Sunday (avoiding Luton M1 like the plague for the next 2 years...

The venue was certainly transfering the outdoor muggy-ness of the day, inside to all, with quite a few of the visitors and exhibitors alike fanning themselves with leaflets etc. However, as has already been mentioned Air-conditioning would have probably upset those exhibitors still using smoke machines, and industrial extractor fans would probably make enough noise to ruin demo'd audio.

A tiring weekend, but well-worth it, and with enough positive, friendly attitude from all your team to make the whole weekend a very forfilling experience, which we'll be almost certainly attending again. in future years.

Well this was the first one i had managed to get to and i can say i am so gald i did, it was a good day very well organised..

Ok it was especially good as i won a new lighting effect, could have been 2 but i was not in the building to hear my name called out !! never mind... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif

High points, all of it really, new kit to play with all for the mobile not just the big boys!! also meeting a few people from here putting faces to names, ohh and the Twins !! i will post a few pics of them tomorrow (left camera at home today!!) i dont know how they do it but every time i saw them they were with another stunning lady !! they should release a book ... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Low points.. emmm well some of the stands were a little small so was hard to chat to the peoplpe running them ohh and the heat that has already been said...but hey you could go outside and get ya free ice cream..

Good work Paul and others bring on next year !!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif .

It was the first one I'd attended too.

I'm glad I went as I finally found the mixer I've been looking for for 6 months, haven't yet decided though wether I'll go next year.

Good points:

Unlike Plaza, it was all for the mobile jock. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif

It wasn't too crowded.

You could have a sit down and eat & drink.

The ice creams from Prolight were very welcome.

Down sides for me were:

The Exhibitors could have had more stuff on show.

Towards the end, the smoke was getting a bit thick.

I think there was only 1 equipment exhibitor acctually selling gear on the day.

I didn't win the speakers. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif

Have to say that I also enjoyed NRG.

Overall score, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/goodjob.gif

Ooops! Nearly forgot, it was good to meet some more faces from DJU. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif

The whole selling issue is a contentious one, I've talked to exhibitors about this before and they don't want to upset their dealers by dealing directly with the public. Mastermix and the like do a bit but never under cut their dealers at all.

when it was discussed we'd prefer exhibitors to bring their brand new kit to demo rather than a load of old stock to get rid of

Hello people, as you may recognise from the name, I am Leon from the duo that performed at the show called NRG.

Was great to be on the show and the feedback from all the DJs and exhibitors was great and looking through the forums on here and other places i appreciate the positve comments about our show.

We try and bring something a little different and do a bit of everything, but our main show is based around R & B, Old Skool, Dance and a few remixes in there.

A lot of people have asked me about our version of You Can Call Me Al, I am happy to MP3 this version to people just give me a shout and ill send it you over.

We were invited to the show by our sponsors Pro Light who i have to say a big thank you to, originally we planned to do an hour show but the reason ahy we had to cut short is because of the following........... The organiser of the event had agreed with the local council that during the show, sound levels would not reach higher than 89db and it was agreed due to the fact the show is held in a dainty village.

Unfortunatley lol .... no one informed us of this and having a Huge Adlib rig and some of you may not know Adlib stuff but im sure people at the show will agree the sound is immense, anyhow no one told me so we kicked off the show and about 8 songs in Andrew Jeffery from Pro light came over and said " do one more your going down great but were getting our arses kicked"

So i had no idea, apparently the organisers and the council officals checked our levels on stage while we were on and we hit 135db, Bear in mind though it wasnt a nasty sound and we was outside as well and the system was running below half lol

Anyhow we came off stage had a great day and enjoyed performing to all you DJ's out there.

If you want the Call Me All Track just email me

Cheers Guys

Yep it was me metering you in the crowd, and we'd had 2 of our 3 warnings, the third one being that Environmental health would have shut down the entire event. So thats why we had to cut it short. And one point you pulled 121db from the doorway of the building and for a residential area thats a bit whoa!

So blame me but needs must.

Hey no worries, you had a job to do and i totally understand why we had to cut it short, Honestly dont worry you missed Alison getting her chaps on as she was about to get changed lol

Good advert for adlib gear though on the sound

Would love to do the event again next year !!
