Why New Customers Book You

Recommended Posts

Just got back from a pre wedding meeting with a lovely couple (Yes, they're living together).

At the end of the meeting they had quite a few interesting and nice things to say.

They were glad they'd booked me, even though they haven't seen me perform yet, because they were very impressed by my professionalism, and they never realised how much preperation went into a disco, and they could now see why some other weddings they had been to had not been that great at the evening reception/party.

They would already reccomend me, even before I have done their event, based purely on the above.

As they were new customers, and the only contact so far had been by email, I decided to ask them why they had booked me, over other DJ's without even meeting me or having seen me work. I have never actually asked this question before. Of course it was the B2B that had booked me, and the reason she gave was that all my correspondance with her had a "personal" touch, and she got the feeling from the emails and letters that they would be treated as more than just another booking.

Really forward to doing this one.

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/goodjob.gif Yes there are clients out there who look for quality of service before price.

I don't know how many others are finding that more & more people prefer to enquire by email rather than phone (I even received a text enquiry earlier this week).

I think one of the reasons for this is that many brides plan their weddings at work and also that the generation we are primarily dealing with are more used to contacting people by email & text.

A couple of years ago I sent an email to 6 discos to find out how they would respond to an enquiry. Of the 6 (all of whom I know - only they didn't know it was me making the enquiry http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif ) only 3 replied and I would have only considered one of those based on the replies I received.

At least 75% of my enquiries come via e-mail.

Hi

In the last 12 months or so, I've only taken 1 new booking over the telephone, every other call has been a cheap DJ shopper.

All my new bookings come via the website and the vast majority say they booked me based on the information and attention to detail covered on the site, inshort, what I've always said if you've read any of my website related posts, it's trust and likeability.

it seems hard to believe that only 18 months ago or so I was only charging £175 per gig, now the average charge for a Wedding is £350.

And all I've really had to do is improve my message and target my audience. I didn't have to improve the service greatly because I felt I was worth that in the first place, I just didn't know how to convince people.

Now I think I've got it just about right.

So, yes be pesonal, don't just reply to an email say Hi it'll cost £350. thank them for writing, give them some advice about what to look for in a DJ should they not choose you etc.

10 bookings in a week?! Bloody hell! I must be doing something very wrong.
Go on then, how do you manage that?

Bob

If you don't get 10 enquiries a week redirect your advertising budget

Aim for 10 bookings per week, for the following 24 to 36 months, also aim for 10 bookings done per month

But what do I know ?
