I have just bought a Dynatwin scanner after reading and watching the video on the prolight page. it has twin mirrors, 10 gobo's and 10 colours + white and full x y movement. it has an excellent strobe effect and, even though it only uses 2 x 100w dichroic lamps, is extremely bright. it is dmx and ca-8 compatible and is only 6kg. fantastic value for money.

please reply if you have one of these and share your thoughts http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif

Must admit I seen them on a web site and not in the flesh. The fact it was a 100w lamp did put me off. I saw them in the flesh at the DJ show North and have to say i was well impressed with them and the price tag.

After good reports of these, and being very impressed with the video on the Prolight website, i plan on buying one of two of these now! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

From what ive seen, i recommend them!

The only downside with the twins I must mention, is the weight.

They are good though, and the fact that they are only 100w bulbs makes no difference at all. They are as good as a 250w unit.

Make sure you get a CA-8 hand controller thrown in, as they are pretty handy.

Link 2 units together via DMX, et voila!

The strobe effect on the units are good as well.

Something else thats good is the fact that they can be freestanding on the floor due to them having 4 little feet.

The software on the twins is slightly superior to that of the single units. Don't ask me how or why - it's just what I was told.

  • 1 year later...

I have two of these, very bright for 100 watts and a nice effect.

Yes they are great lights!

I'm down sizing my gear so I am reluctantly selling 2 Dynatwins, the flight case & an DMX cable on Ebay if any 1's interested?

I have two Dynatwins......

Remember their is a 250w version available now too.

I like them......

But they have two problems in my oppinion.

1) The programms become a bit samey and dull after a while.

2) The in built S2L progs are a bit mad, they need to be slowed down a bit.

I have 4 of the Party Scans. Good value for what they are. I think i am going to use DMX to slow them down, but the very slow movement is pretty jerky as they are not proper stepper motors. As I say, for what they are, they are good and I'm not prepared to lay out hundreds on better scanners ... and then there is the cost of casing them too!

Thanks ... Dave

Yes. Too few LED elements to be effective

thats a shame as everything seems to be going in the direction of LEDs lately.
