Hey guys, im still trying to find a good setup for my mobile dj'ing! What do you guys think to this package: http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR128962

Any pro's / cons that you guys could point out for me would be greatly appreciated. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif

My initial response is:

The amp is only 150W per side, not really big enough for anything but the smallest parties. I would say 250W a side is the minimum you can get away with.

The lights are only 50W. Again, not really powerfull enough for anything but the smallest venue, with all the house lights off.

It just feels like it.

The lighting effects are only 50 watt - most people have 60 watt bulbs in their living room.

The amp is 150 watt per channel - it doesn't state RMS so it's probably peak - many people have bigger sound systems in their living room http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

So if you plan on doing gigs in 'large living room' size venues then yes this system would suffice but apart from that I think that you'd be looking to upgrade a lot of that stuff within a few months (apart from the roll of gaffa tape http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif )

IMO You'd be better off auditioning lights & sound at a local equipment shop.

Good advice about the gear above - I'd look around at other dealers.

I've always percieved HTFR to be grossly overpriced across all makes and models - maybe they've identified this problem and wound-in their prices a bit, but, its well worth while shopping around.

Also, if I haven't welcomed you to the forum before... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/Welcome.gif

With respect, it's all budget gear really only suited to the bedroom DJ. If you buy this for anything other than parties for up to 30 people, you will end up replacing most of it as it is simply not up to the job for the average party of around 100 guests.

I agree with all the above.

If a grand is all you currently have, buy some resonable quality essentials, like CD players, mixer (plus flightcase for these if the budget with stretch) headphones and mic. Then hire in speakers/amp and lights until you earn some money to buy some more kit.

If you are just starting out, try not to spend money you don't have (HP, credit cards, etc.) until you know if DJ'ing is for you. Hiring is a much better alternative, and you get to try out different makes of kit before eventually deciding which to buy yourself.

Cheers for the help guys, i shall be steering clear of that system then. I was thinking of buying a good PA kit to begin with and simply hiring the lighting, rigging etc because the PA kit tends to be the most expensive item to hire.
