buskersball 0
Disaster...nearly Hard drive crashed during soundcheck...completely dead...luckily I had my laptop and a mini disc as back up, but it does show that these things happen. Always back up your mps on a seperate drive, otherwise they're gone forever...you may think it wont happen, but this has proved it does..and will http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/014.gif
YourBigEvent 0
As hard drives are so cheap, and it involves no work, backing up is a must. .....but what do I know ? DJ Marky Marc 0
QUOTE and cd players never fail or error and that is why they all come with lifetime warranties but thats why most CD DJs have more than one CD player.. Bring on the Denon HD2500 and even if the hard disk packs up mid gig you can play the CDs with it..... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif anyway buskersball is right.. always have a backup what ever format you decide to use, silence for more than a second or two mid gig is normaly not a good thing.. <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>

RezN8 0
Another trick you might like to consider is to use an application like Acronis True Image (www.acronis.com/) or Norton Ghost. If you're anything like me, although it's fairly quick to setup an operating system, getting the thing 'just right' takes a little longer. So, once I've got the system how I like it, then I take an image of the operating system partition and then burn that to a DVD. Rebuilding the operating system on a PC now is a 20 minute task ... of which my input has been -->http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

RobbieD 0
I've had the hard disc in my PC fail around lunch time today. - Lost everything. Luckily I had all my files backed up on an external hard disc. So I'm back up and running already. The only thing that I can't get back are all the web links saved in favorites. Such as links to manufactures web sites on equipment I'm interested in, and various interesting forums. Some of the more obsure stuff I may never find again. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif Oh, and my Woolworths down loads won't play anymore - something to do with certificates. I guess the new installation looks like a new PC to them. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif But it would have been a lot worse without my back up. norty303 0
Dunno if you saw the new Kryo range of amps, but they're going to do a 4x600w (or near that) which is allegedly going to be the new Basys amp. 2 x 600 for the tops and the other 2 bridged for the subs. Should be fantastic and i'm planning on one for my mids and tops. DIY plans and pro audio related technical discussions www.speakerplans.com/forum

It would give me the ability to use my current B3 amp as a backup, which has been a slight niggle at the back of mind whenever I take the rig out ... I'd like to A / B the B3 against the Kyro on a Basys to hear the diference ... At the Plaza I was still dazzled after spending 2 hours with the guys on the Allen & Heath stand. I did get to see (and hear) the Air Motion system, sitting atop a Paraflex 640 & Paraflex 360 stack ... It looked awesome and the sound was so clear I couldn't believe it when I tried to speak to the guy next to me and realised even I couldn't hear me ... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/laugh.gif ...
