Sony MDR Z700(V700) Headphones

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Haven taken delivery of a set of Sony MDR Z700 recently, I feel I should warn anyone thinking about buying these (or any) headphones off Ebay.

AVOID.

Upon opening the parcel, it took all of say, 5 seconds to see they were fake.

This was despite all the assurances by the seller that they were genuine.

I have gone through 4 sets of these over the years and suffered the usual breaks in the swivel joint, and am familiar enough with them at this stage to know how to spot a fake.

The audio quality from these (genuine that is) headphones is top class, particularly for DJ'ing, and also the fact that they insulate so much exterior sound means little volume is required to hear the music clearly, a major plus for the ear drums, so happy was I to buy another set, expecting about 18 months life doing about 3 gigs a week.

Its a case of you get what you pay for, but being lied to about the things being genuine when they are clearly not is wrong.

Little wonder the seller’s feedback was private...

Should have known.

The truth of it is most of the electronic goods I have purchased from EBay have been fake. To be fair, all have worked, but getting a controller for my sons PS2 for a fiver and pro headphones are different matters entirely.

So please take heed when buying stuff off Ebay.

If it’s too cheap, ask yourself why....javascript:emoticon(':wall:')

smilie

Ok simple mistake to make..

the model you have from ebay is MDR Z700 please note the Z

the UK product is MDR V700 please note the V

the Z is a budget product made to look the same as the V but for a diferent part of the world...

they are what we call gray import.....

they are not fake just not what you thought you were getting becuase you didnt read up on the head phones well enough..

it happens a lot and the seller is not doing anything wrong as he has put the correct part code on the sale...

when you break them in a couple of weeks get some REAL HD-25's or 25sp's not the Ebay British airways look alikes just becuase they are a good price http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif

Sorry to hear about your woes fella, but I'm with Marc on the HD-25s ... I've done many 3+ hour sets wearing these (I mix in the headphones) and despite my ears getting a bit warm, the HD-25s are comfortable to wear for extended periods, the frequency response is spot on without being fatiguing, and spares are available from the manufacturer.

In short, I guess you get what you pay for ... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/hide.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

I use Sony MDR-V700s and have never had a problem with them in 4 years. Swivel joints are all perfect, sound quality still bang on, and they are pretty loud.

I agree that the HD-25s are better, my friend has a pair and they are slightly better than the Sony's, but also £50 more expensive!

For the money, the Sony's are great headphones, they are perfect for most applications, even some top club DJ's use these headphones when playing out!

im not sure its possible to break the HD25's

dont confuse them with the cheaper HD25 SP's

the HD25 headband can be turned inside out and twister and still regain its shape, its got no swivelley bits to break. A new cable for £28 every 2 years and ive been using the same pair for 6 years (need to get some new bits of foam for the ears hehe)
