Cheese (......Amerillo & I'm in the mood for dancing in particular) & modern R&B in general (even after one listen)

Lonestar - Amazed

Eric Clapton - Wonderful tonight

Monkees - I'm a believer & Sleepy Jean, if the can't even get it's title right why the hell should I play it anyway????? (if anyone asks for Sleepy Jean I usually tell them I havn't got it, give it 5 mins & play "Daydream believer" & make sure I introduce it as a request & by it's correct title. Now I actualy like the Monkees, why can't people ask for Last train to Clarksville, Randy scouse git, Valeri, ......Stepping stone, or even the Monkees theme????????????? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif

Areosmith - I don't want to miss a thing

I'm also getting hacked off with Living on a prayer & Summer of 69, although that may be because people assume it's the DJ's own choice just because I've got long hair http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif

Hate with a Passion......................

Whitney Houston - I will always love you http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fright.gif

Bryan Adams - Everything I do http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fright.gif

Lisa Stansfield - Around the World http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/pooh.gif

Simply Red - Fairground http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/pooh.gif

I actually liked Whitney and Bryan when those songs come out..... But was just overkill..... Now I just won't play them...... Unless the bride wants them at a wedding... and even then, I let my colleague put them on whilst I go out side for some air.......... Even if it is p*****g down with rain!!!!!!!!

Ok, so the last two you wouldn't normally play, but I still hate them......... Grrrrr getting tense thinking about them........

Sweet Child of Mine: G'n'R. Ok to begin with, now the straining guitars just sound dire.

Generically, I'm losing tollerence with the 70's/80's remakes. The "Waiting for a star to fall", cabin crew, call on me, all those kinda tunes where, lacking any new raw material, the song just swipes an old snippet of lyric, repeats it through various pass-filters and bounce new(ish) beats over them...same ol' same 'ol.

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif Seems we need a dedicated Psychiatrist for DJU, they could make a fortune http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Seems strange that some people can "hate" a song so much http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif

Must admit there will often be the odd tune that gets overplayed for a while, but usually if you give it a rest for a few months/years it will sound good again when you next play it months/years later... that's if you liked the tune in the first place.

Some that spring to mind over the years are: Crazy In Love, Independent Women, Jump Around, I Found Lovin, Somebody Else's Guy, Don't You Forget About Me, Fools Gold...

The tracks that I always try to avoid playing whenever possible are Agadoo, Birdie Song, Jive Bunny http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/pooh.gif

A newer song that I've had enough of :- Infernal Paris to Berlin

Can't say there songs that I actually hate but I don't care much for Destinys Child stuff, some of the really, really cheesy action songs -tweets, black lace etc. Oh and I dont tend to play anything too punk-y as its seems to wind the crowd up to much and upsets people. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif If the setting is right ok but for most work the punk era does'nt seem suitable

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Like was said with over playing songs we're into the end of September now so give it a couple of weeks and the shops will start their X-mas drive, by the time you come to do x-mas parties, especially the late ones, me plus the crowd have had enough of Nobby shouting "Its X-mas". http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/newyear.gif

I know we can only play these tunes at one time of the year but . ?

Sorry I cant say I hate any of the tunes you guys have talked about Even Black Lace stuff... If there on the DF dancing to it I love it lol...

The thing I love most is when you re-discover a classic tune and you take a risk and play it and it fills the floor..

Years ago I did a gig where nothing would move them was such a pain I tried the lot... So I put on The smirf song as i was so p http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif d off... The DF was packed and a great night was then had by all...

Just goes to show sometimes playing a C http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif P tune can have the opposite effect...

This has given me an idea for another thread.... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif

I had a similar one, but I said if they didn't co-operate I would play c http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif p "like this" and put on Star Trekkin'. They danced to it ........... and asked for a repeat too. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif

But I did tell them if they didn't keep it going I would play Rennee and Renato. That kept them up. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Most songs played on commercial radio. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/188.gif

Songs are good, but once you've heard them over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.........see my post a few months back called 'The Need For Variation'..

I can recommend mine http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif

Just to put this into perspective. About 17 years ago I took a position of trainee manager in a DIY store (part of a national chain) and so that they didn't have to pay PPL and all the other licencing bodies they played 'elevator' music throughout the store. There was just one tape on loop that lasted 62 minutes so during a normal day the staff would hear each 'tune' 8 times.

By the end of week 2 one of those tunes would annoy me so much more than all the others to the extent that, when I knew it was about to come on, I would retreat to the garden centre. Five months on and I was dismayed to see the engineers fitting external speakers in the garden centre and a month later I left - that's the power of bad music and the true meaning of the term 'that music does my head in' because that's exactly what it did to me and I'm still recovering (my excuse but hey http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif )
