Hi everyone. I guess I'm the new kid on the block!

Except for one or two things:

No-one would ever describe me as a 'kid', and I might be new (as in this century), but I worked big-time in London and the South-East over 25 years ago (gives you a clue to some kind of age.

I decided to re-enter the arena after having attended several parties earlier this year and seeing the level of professionalism!

Thats not meant to be in any way a big headed (or condescending) statement. Its just an observation.

Anyway, it's nice to see that there is room for all sorts. I hope to bump into some of you in the near future.

Cheers!

Roy

Greetings and welcome to the forum. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif

Once you've settled in a bit, why not pop into your control panel and change the "Age" field - it's defaulted you to being a 16 year old - or was that wishful thinking? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/kid.gif

Anyway, feel free to add your replies, experiences, questions and answers to existing topics, including any which you find with the Search Facility - also check out the DJs United Knowledge Base, which has a number of very useful static documents.

Hi Roy and http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/Welcome.gif

Hopefully you will be able to improve the professionalism of those of us that may need it on the forum.

Looking forward to your input.

Not wishful thinking, I'm afraid! I just hadn't been into the profile part of the system (probably an age thing: can't maintain a thou.... for more than a few secs)

I must admit (something I forgot to mention when writing the above) times have changed BIG TIME. Remembering what it was like to lug those rotten LP and single cases around, I jumped at the chance to replace all that (or cds) with 1 laptop (with software) and attendant external hard disk (with muzak).

Quicker, easier to carry and do you know: the tracks don't get scratched, warp or removed by happy customers!

About the 16 thing: my son (12) will be helping (?) me, and he is already making plans about the future! Even son in law, a Dane hopes to get his grubby paws on the kit when he moves over here in the new year (he works at Inn in Copenhagen)

Cheers!

Welcome to DJU.

lets hope your sound system does not sound like the road show name....

http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/Welcome.gif Roy - when I first saw your alias I thought 'I hope he doesn't call his disco that' http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/oops.gif

Really I should just stick to saying welcome and I hope you enjoy your time on here but then a part of me is saying that I should offer my opinion that you may lose customers / clients because of the name you have choosen for your disco http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif

So http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/Welcome.gif and I'll save the name thing for another time http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif

Welcome Roy,

I miss the good old vinyl. Although heavy (you should see our CD cases - lol) Vinyl was easy to stand up and a lot easier to search through. I could flick through around 50 records in about 30 seconds. Knowing your deck spinup speed. O the old times come flooding back. One of our first desks was two BSR record players stuck together. I neally wet myself when my mate try to cue the record up with the old BSR decks as you could'nt spin the record back with the play switch on. The secret was to switch the deck to stop tring not to make the record jump.

Paul,

At the risk of upsetting you (I'm not touchy about MY age yet), you're about 6 months older than I am!

Cheers!
