Eskie 0
QUOTE (Kingy @ Oct 5 2006, 09:36 AM) QUOTE (shakermaker @ Oct 5 2006, 12:09 AM) What kind of wattage do these give out..eg: Could you easily fill a packed venue with say 500 people? I don't think so, not at high SPL and playing to a young crowd. I would hire one in for a test before committing your hard earned cash.... Depends on how you like your sound I guess. Sound is a personal thing http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif Interesting comments... so does that mean that you have actually heard the Bose L1 system now then at a gig? rather than just read about them. scotty 0
Hmmm ok your tempting me now, ive heard them once briefly in a very small room and yes the were good but I need to hear them again in a bigger room. How much were yours Steve ? I have around 2k to spend but could raise more if I were to sell my Martin Audio speakers after lugging them round this weekend and then reading this im jealous. Besides which im 30 in a few weeks far to old to be carrying speakers that weigh 32.5 kg around.... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Scotty KING OF DISCOS We're what parties were invented for ! Steve_Mitchell 0
QUOTE (Dukesy @ Oct 8 2006, 06:51 PM) Quick question to Steve. Did the venue have a sound limiter? Not at this venue Dan, however it will be interesting to see how they cope with a S.L. Scotty: £2700 I paid which included 2 x L1`s and 2x B1`s. Also the PS1`s x 2 (base units). All with carry bags for protection. Steve 5 European cups and 18 leagues, that`s what we call history.
Paul Smith 0
Thought I'd share a few pics with you - these were taken at a venue where I was providing music during the dinner before moving the system to the other end of the room for the evening disco. http://www.5stardisco.co.uk/images/SIMG2230.jpg This was an alcove (cupboard like) at one end of the room http://www.5stardisco.co.uk/images/SIMG2236.jpg From a bit further away http://www.5stardisco.co.uk/images/SIMG2232a.jpg I've added an arrow to mark the location of the L1 The room is just under 26 metres (84') long and the sound was loud enough at the far end without deafening those closest to it. At the moment I have 500w of bass. I worked in a 200 capacity venue on Saturday and it was ample. I can add 2 more B1`s should I wish to and it will cost me £209 per unit. All they will do is tell you were your local dealer is as they do not sell them direct anymore. The way to do it is find a local dealer ask them for a demo of the system and then do the deal. Bose say they can get the kit to their retailers in 2 working days. As for the price, bose control this so you will pay the same wherever you decide to buy from. ChrisPointon 0
The only way to cut a cheaper Bose deal would be to buy one second hand, or bring it in from another country (possibly losing any warranty). They won't be for sale at bargain prices anytime soon, the L1 isn't that new, its been around for a good few years in the U.S, and prices have remained constant over there (albeit still cheaper than the UK) which is usually a good indicator of whether or not prices will be reduced in the UK in time, as the product gains popularity. In essence, the prices haven't reduced in the US, so its a safe bet that they won't reduce in the UK. Bose, sell only through their network of closely monitored and tried and tested Authorised Dealers which prevents any negotiating on prices. It also means that they won't be appearing at your local Disco Equipment retailer, or at the Scouts Jumble sale either. On the flip side, Authorised Network centres nearly always send their sales team and product managers on product courses and you'll find them very helpful and knowledgeable and you know that the Warranty and any aftersales will be there, and worth its weight in gold, and the product will retain a very good level in second hand value, although I would guess from the feedback that there won't be many up for sale. So no point in hanging around waiting for prices to drop, they probably wont'. If you can't find a high street Bose dealer near to you, I believe that Soundcontrol are the only Pro-Bose retailer offering the product by mail order.

brianmole 0
QUOTE (Roadie No 1 @ Oct 13 2006, 01:24 AM) Can these speakers work with conventional bass speakers? Probably, but they are tuned to work the B1 bass bins, and at about £200 each, the B1 will not really break the bank. Besides the warranty would probably be void if you run a different bass bin. I tried running another bass bin, it does work.
