As per question... Do you have one to prove your ID? Thought it may look professional when going into a clients house for a pre event meeting.

Don't bother!. You may get mistaken for a Meter Reader  http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/scared.gif

Hehe ... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif ...

Is the same purpose not served by a driving license (or a note from your mum if you can't drive)?

Yea, they are common for people fortunate enough to look under 18/21 however they are a form of id for anyone.

When Steve passed his test, it was on a horse with a cart behind it. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif

Solution:- Go bombing down the M57!, you are guaranteed to get 3 points for speeding within the first mile and then you are required to upgrade your licence.

There!, glad to have been of service

I think that if you go to a client's house and introduce youself as DJ X, explaining that they had invited you in respect of function 'Y', that's identity enough?

Never had the need for identity proof in this respect, and for now can't see how it could help.

I don`t have one or intend to get one ( or at least until Mr Blair makes us have them). The gas/electric man has id when entering someones house as does the sky Installation man and the bloke who you are expecting to call round to give you a demo for those bose L1`s your about to purchase.

I concede that it could well add to the image of professionalism if you offered ID at the door - I just haven't yet found it an issue.

I'm still not convinced on the requirement being justified, just proving who you are doesn't automatically prove that you are not a convicted axe muderer! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif . I doubt many bogus callers turn up on the doorstep and announce that they are a DJ honouring an appointment to discuss a booking http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif . Officials like Gas Board and other Utilities, Yes but not DJ's. Besides you can get fake ID anywhere online these days - ask any teenager.

To maintain professionalism all you need to do is to just show them a professonally produced business / calling card with your details and they'll know instantly whether they have made an appointment with you and your company.

Steve, didn't you say that you had a CRB check?, if you really are that concerned about re-assuring clients before entering their home, wouldn't it carry more weight to show the CRB certificate?.

If you really feel the need to have a photo, why not have some business cards produced with your photo on them. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Say cheese

If I need ID, I have a drivng licence & a British Passport, I think they should suffice.
