1. What is your DJU Forum Alias?

2. What is your Real Name, Age, Location & Marital Status?

Christopher O'Grady, 19, Warrington, single.

 

3. What is the Name of your Disco?

Well this is the problem, I've just been Chris O'Grady

but I'm trying to sort out a proper name - any suggestions??

 

4. How long have you been a DJ?

4 years

 

5. What inspired you to become a DJ

Dad was a dj for years and its brushed off I suppose, plus love music and discos

 

6. Are you a member of a DJ Association / Union?

No

 

7. What is your favourite type of function now? (eg: Wedding, 18th Birthday party, etc)

Well being only 19 got ot say its 18th 21st I find the easy ones because I'm there and have a pretty good idea about it

 

8. What’s the worst/most embarrassing thing you've done in front of an audience?

Spent half the night (40th) calling the guy Brian when his name was Bernard... audience loved it but only done it once! thank god!!

 

9. If you could go back to the beginning of your DJ career is there anything that you'd do differently? (eg: The gear that you bought, the way you promoted/advertised yourself)

Maybe would have worked with turntables instead of cds, laptop can do decks but only just.. takes time getting that right!

 

10. What do you feel you offer the public that convinces them to book you rather than "the next guy/girl"?

Well a good disco, good show and a all round happy guy

 

11. Have you ever bought something for your show that you wish you hadn't? and why?

A disco light called a corna- rubbish sorry if I offend but just not a fan

 

12. What's your next DJ purchase likely to be?

New horn for me warfdale - and a projector screen

 

13. If you could get someone to invent a new piece of disco equipment for your show, what would it be? All equipment wireless!! cd players, speakers and lighting!!

 

14. What was the worst equipment failure suffered during a gig?

When I first started out I dropped my amp... cracked a circuit board and had to use a marshall guitar amp.. but it worked well... luckily only a primary school...

 

15. What do you think is the best thing about DJ'ing?

The buzz when everyone's loving the party and loving what you're playing

 

16. What do you think is the worst thing about DJ'ing?

Upstairs, and setting up...

 

17. What would make you stop DJ'ing (if anything)?

Death... nahh don't know I'm just setting up discos now don't want to think about stopping yet... have to wait and see......

 

18. How do you think DJ'ing will change, in the next 5 years?

Not sure about that hopefully not that much but technology is the way forward so things are gonna get smaller

 

19. Most stupid thing anyone's ever said to you at a gig?

Don't no....er....

 

20. Best advice you were ever given by a fellow DJ?

Keep at it.....

 

21. And worst advice you were ever given?

err...... not sure sorry..

 

22. How do you keep up to date with music? (eg Promo monthly CDs, Downloads, Purchase from retailer)

cds and downloads

23. Name 3 songs that 95% of the time will fill the dance floor for you!

Dance the night away, In the mood for dancing, the air guitar set- you know the one (queen, brian, john bon, guns and roses, and a little meatloaf)

 

24. One piece of advice you'd give to someone just starting out.

Go for it.... get as many tunes as you can you never no....

 

25. What medium format do you mainly use eg vinyl, CD, hard-drive?

cd and laptop with a external hard drive

 

26. Have you embraced/adapted any ideas that you've read about on DJU?

not yet but in the near future...

27. What is your best gig ever and your worst?

best gig was a barn party in summer- cant describe it - absolutely ace!!!!!

worst was a party in Manchester upstairs that hardly anyone went to...

 

28. What is your main (most successful) form of advertising your disco?

Only ever used word of mouth but I've been at collage now finished and was thinking about a agent... what would you say???

getting a good amount of bookings through word of mouth - think that's the best business....

 

29. Have you ever had someone try to claim off you? (eg: Public Liability Insurance or other such legal action)

No

Yep.. wife and daughters (eldest 21) agree. Me and my son 18 both agree that the DJ prefix is a bit washed out now. What you put behind is up to you but keep it Chris O'Grady

gonna have a think about it.... because im trying to make this work professonaly and maby just my name might work just Chris O'Grady.
