Thrusting Business Cards.....

Recommended Posts

Hi all :djuhi:

2 quick questions.

Should one go round during or at the end of a gig and give out buisness cards, leave a few around before anyone turns up, or wait for people to ask for one.

Is there any copywrite infringements if I use a picture of a microphone from Microsoft clipart as my logo?

Cheers all

I normaly leave a couple of cards on the side of the disco for people to pick up.. and also hand a couple to venue management at the end of a gig as they have been know to call....

but I dont force them upon people..

Personally, i wouldn't give out business cards unless asked. Might leave some ontop of my subs though.

I tend to use request slips and pens with my details on anyway, as they serve a purpose and don't just look like in your face advertising.

I only give them out if asked for, but like Danno, I put request slips on the tables and these have my contact details on them.

I do have my contact details on my Karaoke request slips (and on the song books), so will stick with this.

any thoughts on the Clipart question

I wouldn't give out business cards as such, but I've seen some good suggestions on this forum for surreptitiously promoting yourself, such as having request slips printed complete with full contact details - a sort of businessy cardy requesty slipy thingy.

I go along with the idea of leaving business cards around your own disco space for people to pick up if they want, but I'd suggest not leaving them on tables - I feel that would be a bit 'forward'.

I would agree with keeping the clipart to a minimum.

Avoid falling into the trap of using it simply because you've found out how to!

Avoid using clipart if possible.

Hire a designer to make you a unique logo. You only get one chance to make a first impression!.

p.s: To answer your clipart question. Microsoft clipart is royalty free which means you can use it on your cards without violating copyright.

get your cards designed properly, some printing firms will even throw in the artwork too if you shop around
