One of the guests kept bringing me CD's to play, and Eskie had already told me about this genre of music, it come fron Trinidad, and seems to be a mix of bhangra & soco, some of it sounded quite exciting, If only I knew what it was that I was playing Mobile Party DJ For Weddings Parties Corporate Events Covering London Essex Kent Sussex Surrey Bucckinghamshire Hertfordshire & Essex

High Fidelity 0
Really enjoyed last night's golf club dinner dance - eventually. Booked from 7 as they wanted background music while they had their dinner, and the organiser came to me during the meal while I was sat in the lounge and said he wanted to book me for next year. He said the guests thought the background music was great. I'd left the laptop playing a box set call moods which is all instrumental - what I would call "musac". Was bored stiff till they finished their meal at about 10, but then had a great time. Busiest dance floor, apart from the last track when there were just 3 people left in their seats, was Victor Sylvestor. It's the first time I've had the opportunity to play a decent amount of strict tempo stuff, and they were delighted when I kept giving them what they asked for. ie: Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, quickstep etc. Some commented that they were surprised that a DJ would have such stuff, and know what tracks suited what dances. (I didn't tell them that all the tracks are marked with what dance they are for). Only down side was that the function room was upstairs. All I can tell you is it's 3 CD's, called Moods, and it's by a company called Crimson. They each have the number CRIMBX003(x), where x is the number of the CD. brianmole 0
Well last night was a first for me - I was booked as a DJ only for a company xmas party at the ICA in Pall Mall, Laandan. The venue provided the sound system, and I was supposed to be using a Allen & Heath Xone:62 and a Denon DN-D4000. Superb! So, I turn up, and there's an impressive Nexo PA, and a Citronic 10:4 on top of a 4U flightcase with a DN-D4000 mounted vertically all on a DJ booth. Unfortunately, I cannot work vertical controls at waist height for 4.5 hours, so I brought in my Pioneer stuff, plonked it on top, and off we went. The interesting thing with this gig was that there was no lighting requested. The venue provided about 4 dimmed uplighters, and I had absolutely no problems getting the audience to really enjoy themselves - no one even mentionned the obvious lack of lights. Another huge plus, is that I was set up upstairs in 10 minutes - 2 trips to the car, and down in 15 minutes, so I was not exhausted on the way home. Piccies: http://www.dancemix.co.uk/images/6723.jpg smile icon http://www.dancemix.co.uk/images/6735.jpg I think I need to get the duster out on my mixer http://www.dancemix.co.uk/images/6727.jpg The view out of the window was Big Ben - no not that one... Oh, we got away without playing any Xmas music except for Let it snow at the end
Tall Boys 0
Friday - Wedding working with a superb band called Groovy Revolution may i just say the Groovy revolution are amazing, i worked with them at a 21st party near me in the summer. I fully understand why people pay £1000 for two 45 minute sets. Since i worked with them (they very kindly let me run through there PA, and were very impressed with how it performed with a wide variety of music), i have been to see them over 5 times at venues near me! check them out @ http://www.groovyrevolution.com/ - they have some amazing demos to d/l. Jimbo55 0
New Puppy !!!! We now have a new addition. An eight week old Chocolate Labrador whom we have named 'Sid' (after the sloth in ICE AGE 1&2 ). Lots of :fan: Reworking the show with new SKB cases and a new DMX show. Playing with OTSDJ 1.75 and seriously considering purchasing it after running it non stop for two days. Turned down 2 NYE offers. 1 very dodgy pub and one passed to a local DJ. Thing is they were sensible pricing £350 8-1am with additional cost per hr after 1 am, but every year they have always ended up in a huge punch up :fright: SEDA tonight. music box 0
Friday night 14th Birthday party for a very special boy The lad wanted lights and lots of them so after talking to Mr. Brain Mole he very kindly offered his lights, to add to the show, I went over on Thursday evening and to set the rig up and set the sound as we found out that we where working with a sound limiter What a night the rig got a very big WOW from the lad, and all in all went very well. sooooo a very big :grouphug: for Mr. Brain Mole your a star mate. Saturday Night at the Savil Court Hotel Englefield Green. What a set up all I had to do was produce the sound the producion team provided the lighting stage and effects produced all the lighting. Wish i could put pics on here will look into the hosting part etc a bit techy for me. The lighting was good for the room as there was a panto on before me, but when we did start at about 11-30. The lighting for us was a bit weak, but none else said anything. so just my opion. Once they had all moved from the tables and got there drinks etc. There was a packed floor right till the end at 1am. and the usual 1 more 1 more etc. we put my way on low while the production team got to work on dismantling the set and the floor was still packed. I did have some problems with my player so this week main priorty new player required. This with other things going on cueing up a wrong track while trying to sort out player etc. faded out the wrong track as it was out of seqeuce to the set I was doing a lady came up and said can you put that track back on please ok I said later as its not with this set. The main thing about the above problems is to stay calm and dont panick when things start go wroug. I like to be ahead of whats going on not in time with it, if you know what I mean and Ali managed some how to keep me calm that what partners a re for. (LOL) Sunday was my boy's 3rd. birthday which did not finish till 9 pm so did not get to S.E.D.A. meeting sorry guy's I will be there next time. So all in all a very good weekend now into the busy season out 2 sometimes 3 time a week now till January. So all in all a great weekend
