digitaldistortion 0
Went to a party hours after we (WHU) had been robbed by Liverpool in the FA Cup. The DJ was a 'pool supporter (and knew me) and played this regularly throughout the evening (ruining it), smirking all the time. When he had a break, I asked his assistant to play Bubbles (Sham 69 version), which he did......just as the DJ came back from his break. The smirking stopped.... tongue out icon PS I wouldn't play ANY team related songs... Edited December 20, 2006 by digitaldistortion Cheers! Roy B. To be fair, it is more than just a footie song. Although we all think of 'the Liverpool anthem' when we hear it, You'll Never Walk Alone actually comes from Carousel (American musical), and was a standard for, amongst many others, Elvis. Gerry & The Pacemakers (or was it Freddie & The Dreamers or The Merseybeats etc.) only made it really popular in the 60s, after which the Supporters adopted it. Lecture Over... Cheers! Roy B. Andy Westcott 0
Why has this song been attached to bloody football by seemingly everyone? I sometimes finish a night off with it, and I've never seen any football related issues with it at all - just a classic oldie. I hate football, and everything that goes with it.

Play it by ear...............but what do I know ? I dont play it because of the Liverpool - Everton thing and I have seen too many fights and kick offs when its played. Dont play glitter, or king, r kelly is crap anyway so dont play that dont seen any reason not to play jackson he was found not guilty. Besides which if we start goin down the route of not playing artists for crimes they have commited then I would be missing a lot of people off my playlists and this thread isnt about that. analyst 0
. . . if we start going down the route of not playing artists for crimes they have commited . . . On that basis you could rule out most rock bands who have ever taken drugs, and many others too I guess. Jeez, by the time we're finished going down this road we'll only be left with "Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep" although it could be argued that making that song was a crime in itself. For gaw'ds sake, what is it in the moronic attitude of football fans that they will even start fighting over a song being played? A song, I might add, which was nothing to do with them in the first place. I agree with others, I think "You'll never walk alone" is an all time classic song of unity and mutual support. I often play it to finish off an evening and it works well, usually spontaneously generating a large circle in the middle of the floor with their hands in the air - and not one of them, including me, having a passing thought about Liverpool or even bloody football.
