KrazyKaz 0
I've sent details of a village hall through to you. I'll send some more through as and when I can. I do kids parties at church halls, I take it that they count too. They don't call me Krazy for nothing! Krazy by name - Krazy by nature !!!Age doesn't matter, unless you're a cabinet!K K Disco
Andy Westcott 0
Cheers Kaz, most of the details were received - I've sent an e-mail to clarify a point or two. Yep, village halls, church halls, parish halls, even hotels if they are in the middle of nowhere, in fact any venue in a rural area where information might be useful. Plenty of space available for a whole lot more data yet. smile icon
Andy Westcott 0
I'm just bumping this one up, in case there's anyone out there who would like to contribute. smile icon We really do need more input to make the 'database' useful. You will find the link in my signature. Incidentally, the few pages I have there so far are getting hit a surprising amount, with people generally searching for the exact name of the halls. Don't forget, any page I create with your input gets a link to your business's web site in return, so all these people googling those halls will get a link to the site of the DJ who supplied the information - heck, they may even approach you for a booking!! Thankyou for your time. Edited May 25, 2007 by Andy Westcott
Norfolk DJ 0
Good idea this, can save us a lot of time by knowing what to expect at these venues.
Andy Westcott 0
And people really do visit these pages. Not in droves, but then there aren't many entries yet - only a handful. Here's a screenshot showing the search terms used in the last few days: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/andyspatch/hosting/serverlog.gif See?? People are visiting these pages! Let's add some more!! TonyB 0
I've only done one report (slapped wrist for me!) but have just received my first booking, wedding reception in September, as a result of Andy's report page :-) So pop over to http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/andyspatch/halls/hallindex.htm and print off the form to take with you at the next village hall function you do. Thanks Andy.
analyst 0
I have to say that I think this is a job that is so worth doing. What a fantastic resource this could prove to be if it was utilised fully. For example, I have noticed on my local "freecycle" pages "wanted" ads saying wanted - recommendations for a venue for a party/wedding etc. I personally have had a recent enquiry from someone wanting me to do a gig over 100 miles away - in the "wrong" direction. Wish I had a clue as to what I might be letting myself in for. I must admit I am as guilty as anyone in not feeding into it, I must get my ass in gear. The problem is the old "out of sight, out of mind" thingy. Couldn't this be made a sticky, I think it deserves it, then we'd all be reminded and probably start inputting more. Keep up the good work Andy. EDIT: Here's another 280 you could add Edited March 13, 2008 by analyst <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
Andy Westcott 0
Tony - that's great news! Well done. I've also had an enquiry from someone who clicked my link on a particular village hall report, but unfortunately it came to nothing - I must be too expensive! Analyst - looks like someone copied my idea! (They've done a better job too...)

nigelwright7557 0
In the 1970's a lot of the village halls in my area were used for bands and discos. All that seems to have died out now. Most of my gigs are at pubs and clubs.
AlexEntertainment 0
Hey guys, I know I'm new to the site, but I was wondering if this project was still active and if so.... I would love to help! I've got web design experience and would be willing to create a site listing everything. I can also add a feature so users can add to the list at any time. I've got a few designs lined up... :) Let me know what you all think. AlexEntertainment 0
Ok.... So I've started work on the new site.... At the moment, only the basics are in place! I'm working on a search feature using certain criteria... for example : Venues in [x]London [ ]Cambridge [x]Kent DJ's Music Style : [x] RnB Style [x] 80's pop [ ] 90's pop Give me 24- 48 hours, The search feature should be fully working. I've placed a few spoof VENUE listings for you to view and give me your feedback. I was thinking this site could be used not only by us, but also the general public! If people are happy to use this site, it's very very easy to manage HOWEVER it will be time consuming entering all the details for EACH function room / village hall available... so if anyone out there has experience of Joomla Article Management and would like to help ;) I wont say no hehehee Whatcha think?? http://www.alexsdesign.co.uk/**********/ I've named it ********** on my server so I know which one you guys are on :) - Dont worry I dont want to set up a new forum! Dukesy 0
I see you're adding a DJ search to your new site, indicating that your site is likely aimed at the wider public, as opposed to a DJ orientated specific service? How do you intend to promote the site? For example, do you intend to charge DJs for registration (to promote the site / help the public find DJs) charge venues for a listing, or subsidise the site from your mobile disco business? The reason I ask these questions is that there is little information on your site. Your intentions may need 'clarity', clearly worded on your site, as in the past, members have indicated one thing then done another, which has had a negative impact on them and their ventures! Until you flesh out the site with a few hundred venues / DJs, there is currently little to navigate in my opinion. Out of interest, given that there are already long established / highly popular pub guides and DJ listing directories (such as UK Disco), if your site is going to be generally aimed at the general public, what have you found to be the highest / most popular references for search criteria on the internet - DJ searches or venue searches?
